ADAMA Diomande will step up his comeback from injury over the next week as he aims to make a delayed Hull City debut later this month.

Diomande became the Tigers' final signing of the summer when joining from Norwegian side Stabaek in a £1.6m deal on deadline day but a nightmare start to his time in England has since left the striker on the sidelines.

What was initially diagnosed as a minor groin injury soon required surgery when arriving in East Yorkshire, ruling a frustrated Diomande out for at least six weeks. The 25-year-old is yet to even train with his new team-mates as he continues a patient rehabilitation but targets for a belated Championship introduction are now being drawn up.

Although the trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday week will come too soon, Diomande is expected to be close to full training come the end of the international break. City host Ipswich on October 20 and then Birmingham four days later, and there are faint hopes the striker could be available to play some part in that double-header if he progresses well.

The Capital One Cup fourth round tie at home to Leicester on October 27 is a more realistic chance for Diomande to feature ahead of the Championship trip to MK Dons on October 31.

"Adama's progressing well," said boss Steve Bruce. "After the international break we expect him to be joining in training and looking for some games. It's been frustrating but I'm sure everybody is looking forward to seeing him."

Could he be our 15/16 equivalent of the 07/08 Folan, coming off the bench to score crucial goals?

I'd rather him be the 15/16 equivalent of 07/08 Campbell or Windass, and score at least 15.

I still think we'll be top 8 at best, so my expectations aren't exactly massive tbf.

In other words, I think we'll finish between 5th and 8th.

Which, when you look at expectations for a lot of fans, is quite low.

I think he's probably going to score 25 with whats left of the season he's easily the best striker in the league.

Don't think it will be 25, but just got a feeling that this lad will do the business.

If a certain Bob Bradley who managed the USA and currently manges Staebak turns up to manage Sunderland, fair chance Adama might have been in The Premier League?

In this league we have the midfielders to supply the bullets and their assists should be easier to put away against weaker defences (hence Hernandez being our top scorer).
If Diomande knows how to finish he should get a decent haul.
