Great news, his experience and ability to play in a few positions could be really useful. Added to which he deserves to show Jol what he can do. That said if the rumours that we have a few quid to spend are true, he may have to prove himself pretty quickly.

Would have loved this news to have come over a year ago but now he has no place in the team, even with our injuries and suspensions. Nobody would love it more than me, being Welsh and all, to see Davies come back and return to the form that saw him become our Player of the Year a few years back. I sincerely hope I'm proven wrong, but I don't see him ever getting back to his best form.

I hope you're wrong, Bandy, but even if you're not we'll always have Hamburg (at the Cottage).

As do I Captain. In some ways it may be better this way, as there is no chance of his on-field reputation being tarnished, to an extent, in the eyes of the fans (Dempsey, Hangeland)

Really good to hear he's on the way back, and agree with Bandit/Captain.

Thanks for posting the link, Cottager. I know the Dempsey lob against Juventus won the club's goal of the season and is the one that gets mentioned most from the Europa League campaign (and it is a great goal!), but this is the memory I keep going back to when we talk about that season. It's probably my favourite ever Fulham goal.

Good news. Probably he will not be anywhere near his previous form but I want to believe that he still has a role. The position that will suit him will be central midfield. He can pass the ball, tackle and distribute forward.

But as others said, his goal in Hamburg will be remembered!

Sadly agreed with Bandy. He's been out of the team for too long, almost every aspect is different. I hope he still has a part to play and does well though, if he can do a job covering CM then we'll be laughing. But whatever he does, like others have said, Hamburg will remain!

    Fulham 3 Wycombe Wanderers 2 "U21" Friendly

    Digger plays for 45 minutes

Simon Davies returned to action this afternoon as Fulham "Under-21s" were held to a 2-2 draw with their Wycombe Wanderers counterparts in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Motspur Park. The Welshman has been desperately unlucky with injuries of late but played the opening 45 minutes of the match at right-back – a position he has filled with aplomb in previous years for the Whites.

The Chairboys took the lead after quarter of an hour through Matt Spring’s free-kick, before Kieran Richardson equalised five minutes later. Richardson, too, was withdrawn at half-time. Fulham took the lead in the first minute of the second half through Lasse Vigen Christensen, although Wycombe drew level on 75 minutes when Junior Monias converted a penalty.

Other First Teamers who saw action included Giorgos Karagounis, who was replaced at half-time, Kerim Frei and Pajtim Kasami who played an hour each, and Matthew Briggs who played the full 90 minutes.

Probably just a tad too early, but wouldn't it be nice to have Simon Davies on the bench at our noisy neighbours this weekend?

Here is a video clip of the game posted by the Club. Unfortunately it is not very good quality and highly edited so it's hard to get even a glimpse of Digger. Still there is the Richardson free kick - billed as a 'wonder goal'. Ummm, not totally convinced it was meant ..
