Forlan is 32 and will no doubt have lost half a yard of pace in a year since the WC, and he will not be getting any quicker, so forget about that little purple patch. Not all strikers adjust to losing it, when its very much the main part of their game. In the style of Duncan Ballantyne...I'm oot!:emoticon-0149-no:

£10million or under and no breaking the wage structure then i'm sure every fan would be happy.

He flopped at ManUre but that was 7 years ago.

Spanish football isn't English football but to score goals in that league year in year out is not to be sniffed at.

Forlan plus Leandro (£15million?) and sell Crouch and Keane for £10million combined to Sunderland or some other mugs and i'd be a happy fan.

    Ins

    Forlan - £10million
    Damiao - £15million
    Friedel - Free

    Outs

    O'Hara - £5million
    GDS - £5million
    Jenas - £5million
    Keane - £5million
    Crouch - £5million

That would have us breaking either and then if we get rid of Hutton, Bentley and Bassong that could easily finance signing Parker if HR really wants him.

We would of freshened, cut down and strengthened the sqaud and possibly not added to the wage bill :) it would also give Leandro Damiao a year to settle in without the pressure of needing to score fire us into the CL in his first season.

I'm sure I'd be laughed at for this but I'd rather have Gio than Forlan because

    (a) the age difference
    (b) Forlan in his English stint had a far better team and opportunities while Gio has been frozen out by Harry who prefers his poor performing favourites such as Defoe and Crouch

I think he has been frozen out by Harry because he is just too lightweight and not good enough at this level.

But Harry has never said that

He's always gone on about nightclubbing and showing up late for training

Well if you want to talk about lightweight players I would put Crouch (who is always being beaten despite his height) and as for not good enough at this level, Defoe who is frequently offside and shoots right at the keeper, behind GDS

But of course Harry has worked with them before while he hasn't with GDS so that makes all the difference

Just my opinion Colonel, what I have seen of GDS does not impress and I would still have Crouch or Defoe above him even though I am hardly a fan of Crouch. They both offer more to a team in the PL than GDS could. I would think he would be far better off in Spain.

My opinion from watching his limited appearances is that GDS is best off in the hole (like VDV) or as a right winger and that he has had very limited opportunities in those roles in the PL

It does wind me up to see millions spent on players who, because of the manager, are given hardly any opportunities (such as the then club record signing Rebrov, who was quite clearly better than the Hoddle favoured over the hill Sheringham and Ferdinand)

...and imo, I agree, preferably one where you can close the lid!

watched gds on euro sport last night in my eyes didn't do much. Also got the impression that some of his team mates forgot he was on the pitch. Forlan might be 32 but i think he could do a good job for us,but then what do I know being a supporter for almost 58 years

It's a tribute to his time at Man Utd. He definitely seemed to be avoiding hitting the ball into the net then, too.

I was inspired by The Overlap.
This is a bizarre story. His profile obviously needed raising but he won't be challenging Djokovic any time soon.

No, he played one doubles match as an amateur in a very small tournament.
