Right, this is very optimistic and he is 32 so obviously doesn't fit into our policy, he also will atract some Champions League clubs

But, apparently he will be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer. For the right deal would you welcome him to the Toon?

    I know I would, class act :)

Nah, never cut it at Man U in his prime, wouldn't get the space and time on the ball in the prem. Not for me like.

I think he would be awesome tbh. Looks so much better now than he did at Man Utd

We were actually linked with him a month or so ago too ;)

Don't get me wrong I'd be a little excited but I'd be worried he'll take 2 seasons to get used to the prem like Jonas, Colo and Jose.

Yeah, I think he'd take a while to adjust to the PL. La Liga is a very different kind of football. If it took him a season or two he'd be 34/35 and winding down. He'd also be on big money.

I think Colo, Jonas, Jose would help him settle in well. He would take Prem by storm IMO

Would be a good signing if cheap, and the sort of player that may attract other players to come... or some to stay *cough* *cough* you know who i mean....

If he's cheap I'd go for him. Watched him a few times on TV and he is still a good player.

Almost as bad as people saying we should sign Daniel Sturridge!

Theres no doubting his quality he is just not the type of player that can do well in this country, if you can't do it for Man Spew you aren't going to cut it here.

No. Was a joke at Man United. Can't cut it in the EPL.

Would be on a stupid wage too. Rather have Berbatov <ok>

He didn't get a look in at Man Utd, Forlan had too many chances.

He had a decent World Cup but I don't think he'll be up to the rigours of the Premier League.

A few years younger and he'd be an asset but I don't think he's the kind of player we're looking for.
