Sorry Bidley, I should have been clearer. He was going to retire at the end of this season and there was concern (?) about who would replace him as matchday announcer. Here is the original post from a while back -
I used to work with his daughter. We were at lunch in a restaurant in Central London one day back in the late 80's when Diddy rocked up with Tarrant and Blackburn in tow. They joined us and not much work was done that afternoon. Nice bloke - all three were nice blokes, actually.
