I've never been a fan of this sort of stat. There's too many other things to take into the equation. That said, Rodwell has been underwhelming to say the least.
And Seb has been one of our most consistent performers so I think the question answers itself. What it proves is how much money we have squandered year after year since we've been in the Prem. Our outlay is embarrassing when you look at the likes of Stoke and Swansea who are now classed as comftable mid table teams.
I agree that we're not signing well and overpaying for crap and it needs sorting as soon as possible. Rate Seb highly amongst our current squad but in reality he's a pretty average player.
I agree, which goes to show what a farce our club is at the moment. The same season we signed Jozy for 6m Swansea paid 4m more for Bony? Prime example of our current transfer activity!
That hurts. So bad. Poyet spoke about the lack of quality in the squad. Dick has already mentioned the lack of pace in the squad. Hopefully that's being taken into account. I maintain Gus vetoing Moses and Richards while having his idiotic interest in Borini and Coates has hurt us massively.
Hurts even more that Jozy and Bony played in the same league before we signed him so why didn't our Dutch scouts realise for an extra 4m we could have had a world class player. Villa signed Benteke round about that time as well for 6m. This is why we are struggling so bad! We also paid 12 m for Fletcher, 5m Graham and 8.5.for Connor ffs
I don't understand buying British to be honest. You pay an over inflated price for a player who's come up thinking football comes second to money/cars/women/gambling.
We'd all like to say we've got a successful team made up of British players but in reality to be successful now you need to buy overseas. I wonder how much Bolasie cost Palace ?
I'd like to see Rodwell playing centre half instead of Vergini. He would add a bit of pace. He's good in the air. Just tell him it's to keep us up.
Did you think it was a waste when we signed Rodwell though tees? I certainly didn't and very few did. I thought he was an excellent signing and stand by that, had he been the player he looked at Everton, he would be every bit worth the money. Not the board or anyone else's fault that he's turned out less than average!
Yes I did to be honest mate. His injury record for City and Everton was abysmal and he's carried that on with us. A club like us can't afford to spend that kind of money on one player without him playing week in week out.
