Unfortunately I was away in Barcelona at the weekend and rumour has it the blues finished the job off on Saturday! Watched some of the football league show this morning and Steve Claridge does talk some rubbish. His assessment of us was that we always have no problem doing well and getting promoted from league 2 but always struggle to stay in league 1. When in reality we have only ever got up to league 1 on two occasions, the first time we lasted from 1994 until 2004 and granted we did come straight down a season ago but hardly suggests we regularly yo-yo between divisions. And until Taylor got us up a couple of years back we had struggled to get out of league 1 so hardly suggests we had a great track record! Watching the highlights nice to see Anthony Grant's reaction to scoring against us and not celebrating. Considering he was only ever on loan to us it was a commendable reaction. And what is with that new signing and goal machine in the last couple of games, Ben Strevens? I swear we had a player with a similar name earlier in the season who couldn't score for toffee!
Yes I agree. I had high hopes when we signed him but he had largely disappointed until recently. It is a shame the season has had to end for both him and Rendell as the goals have been flowing, which is something we have lacked for a number of years. Cannot wait for the transfer window to come around again now to see what happens! We need additions that is for sure but I am hopeful we will be in a much better position as hopefully Waddock will be given a wage budget more than a couple of weeks before the season starts!
we desperately need a left footed midfielder ,but one who tracks back and is also good going forward.i think beever and jp will be released and we will sign another striker to partner rendell.
What's the view on Sandell now? I've heard on here that he's not that great defensively. However, having watched the highlights of Saturday's game, from an attacking point of view he looked pretty good and showed a touch of class before forcing a good save from their goalie. Nice to see our strikers getting into scoring positions, and putting them away.
Having watched sandell this season i have to say he has been suspect in defence but having said that he has had betsy on his side of the pitch who likes to go forward a lot and sometimes forgets to track back and do his defensive chores thus leaving sandell more often than not facing two opposing players coming at him rather than one and anyone would struggle against that.
