I'm sure many of you remember that FA Cup game against Newcastle in 2006, where Bialkowski got injured with 10 minutes to go, so with no sub goalkeeper available, Dexter Blackstock had to put a 10 minute shift in goal! Henri Lansbury last night having to go in goal for West Ham reminded me of this, and having trawled the internet trying to find the highlights of Dexter's brief stint, I cannot see them anywhere, does anyone have anywhere where I could relive this? Surreal moment.
I can see Dexter's "rabbit in the headlight" expression now bless him. Can't find evidence online though, would it be somewhere in the SaintsPlayer archive? (I no longer have access)
I recall that both Neil Ruddock & Le Tiss would volunteer to go in goal in the event of us losing our keeper at the time. Le tiss would have done a good job, but clearly Ruddock would win the argument. Didn't Le Tiss play in goal during Franny's testimonial (or was it another one?)
I recorded the match on VHS tape, I think, or it was one of the first HDD/DVD recordings I made [I was recording anything and everything when I fist got that]..? Think I've got it around somewhere. I never watch it because Saints played so bloody badly in it and Newcastle were barely any better. Tbh, it was an awful match. Dexter was the only highlight.
