Sometimes, good things come out of bad. Not being a social (much prefer Redruth's 'unsocial') network user myself, I was amazed at the vitriolic stuff that goes on in some of these places.

Hopefully, people will now realise that these insults are not just words across a room, but are there for all to see, and to be held accountable for.

If he had been bright enough to use this as a defence he would have walked. The CPS employ the dregs who can't get a job anywhere else so unless you run up the white flag and admit something then their chances of a conviction are zero-ish.It's like these speeding tickets, they threaten perverting the course of justice to scare people witless and they admit it.

I went all the way on a speed camera ticket and ended up getting compensation. All that is happening here is muppets getting banged up at our expense.Jail should be for people who break into your house, rape your sister, steal your car not some halfwit who mouths off on a social networking site.

So you don't think an internet troll that:

    1. Harasses someone mercilessly that they take their own life should face jail?
    2. A crime that if committed in "person" would result in a jail sentence should carry the same identical tariff derspite being seen by hundreds if not thousands of people?

No,I don't.For the following reasons.Posting on an internet site requires the intended "target" to access the site themselves. The argument is somewhat similar to people who complain that TV shows offend them, there is an off button to fix that.In one of the cases the perp was an Aspergers sufferer. That should be enough to explain his actions. Jail for these offences is totally inappropriate IMHO.

I agree with number one but there needs to be a definite set of rules a line which you need to cross. I had to call into a legal conference in the States and it was on harassment we were given scenarios which were very tame and were shocked when we were told they were classified as harassment and you could be sued, bare in my mind I work for an American corporation and the conference was based of American legislation so our laws would be less severe but it was crazy still.

One law which shocks me is the laws for Stalking there has been countless bills but do you know you cannot be convicted of it in this country? In my opinion makes peoples life a misery and most of the time general weirdness develops into some form of intimidation or in some extremes violence. For years there has been people being murdered or committing suicide due to constant harassment and our courts done **** all about it.

As for this troll culture there was something on Panorama they caught up with them proper sad cases people who don't have friends, lives, jobs people who think their hard hiding behind a computer.

What would the courts should have done instead of jailing him is take him to Muamba's bedside. He would almost certainly be sorry and regret his actions and would probably never do it again.

By the time they had got him there he would have sobered up and would most likely regret it anyway.I know drunkeness can't be a total excuse for everything otherwise drunk driving would not be an offence, but come on,we must all know someone who when they get a few drinks inside them turn into a complete knob.

One mild mannered chap of my acquaintence wants to fight everyone once he has a drop of turps.Getting insulting when in one's cups is a time honoured condition that generally causes amusement rather than offence.OK there is a degree of In Vino Veritas here and this chap is clearly racist but if we are going to start jailing people for what they think next time I am in Morrison's behind some old biddy who is suddenly surprised when she needs her purse at the checkout I will be up before the beak.

Him saying he was drunk is most likely an excuse. He changed his story from 'I was hacked' to 'I was drunk.' in law being intoxicated is complicated but it depends on the type of defence, how sever it is, how drunk they are and whether it was voluntary.

If your drunk, theres still something wrong with you if you post this stuff.

He didn't support a rival club to Bolton I believe, but if Muamba played for Ipswich I'd be down at Portman road to show my support to them, no doubt about it.

You can call an opposition fan an arsehole, you can even celebrate an injury if it benefits your team, but the minute someones life is on the line the football stops. He becomes simply a young lad in a very bad situation. Could be story of the season if he gets better. We've been doing great, but generally it's been a not good year for football between the racism and stuff. If Fabrice walks out on the bolton pitch last game of the season it at least shows hope for the future.

Unfortunately they say it may be a year before he returns to football and even then it may not be top flight football.

Being discussed on Question Time now.Interestingly the entire panel and vast majority of the audience agrees with me that this was an inappropriate sentence.
