This is the word that describes where we are short at the moment. We may have good team spirit but watching Man U and their DESIRE to get the ball or get into spaces to receive it. We just don't seem to have it right now.
Really? Because i've been on here since the start of the season, and recall a thread being made about EUROPE mate, and have seen a number(not all, just a number) of members basically saying that relegation is nothing to worry about and we will finish 'comfortably mid-table'. I've even heard pundits etc say it, and for me, thats worrying. Even my own friends, who are mostly rangers fans, seem to ignore our last 10 games of the season, and ignore the fact we've already lost to the likes of Norwich,Bolton and Wigan, and think we'll be fine. Strange. Having said that I do accept there are fans out there who keep a level-head and are just as worried about our chances as I am (Y).
You're right about Barton. He did make a few bloomers but also won possession and tidied up a few times too. Takes charge fairly well (which we need for shape) and one of our better crossers on most occasions imo... free kick towards the end was dreadful though.
Got it in one , London! I repeat that the club will have to spend at least £50,000,000 to stay up! I have just watched the wost game of this season. I think the club should have a good clean out and start again? Thats it for another week.
Desire? Think you're right about that but what about that key element of any strategy - objective? We don't seem to move forward with conviction and goal focus. Don't think we worry defences enough which returns the initiative to our opponents and puts us on the back foot far too often. Desire? Yep. You are right - too little in the mix.
Desire - Jamie Mackie (as always) demonstrated it, but tired late in the 2nd half. Cerny kept us in the game and we should have tested De Gea more with shots on target, that Bothroyd in particular seems unable to deliver. Helguson at times was providing crosses, rather than being the target man. Taarabt brought a touch of creativity to our game and if DJ had converted his perfect cross it would have set up an interesting climax to the game. Barton had a shocking game coughing up the ball on numerous occasions, plus horrible set play deliveries. Traore always looked dangerous on the left wing and I thought Connolly actually did an ok job filling in. At 0-2 down, with 15 mins to play, felt Warnock should have thrown caution to the wind and perhaps brought on Tommy Smith for Bothroyd, rather than Clint Hill. Fear we are now sucked into a relegation dogfight, and 3 pts against Sunderland is really essential to provide a little breathing room.
Getting nothing v Sunderland is looking increasingly likely. Then its Arsenal and Swansea to finish the first half of the season off. WP and Barton aren't living up to the hype, although in his defence WP is playing out of position - I suppose they were panic buys in Warnock's defence. I'm still proud of the various Cernys, Helgusons, etc, without their spirit it would be a lot worse.
Mackie and Traore both had decent games, but i was frustrated with the treatment Bothroyd got today was bang out of order, yes i agree he has slightly under achieved over the season so far but today he was on a par with most of the others in blue and white. We need to give these boys our support, oh and lets remember this was one of the best sides in europe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desire AND consistency. Don't be too harsh on the team. We BEAT Chelsea and nearly drew with the best team in the premier league - Man City. We had plenty of desire in those games. We need to be able to bring it out whoever we are playing.
We the fans have a part to play the atmosphere today was flat we were out song by a bunch of mock mancunians. Is this a library we sang at anfield quite ironic really!!
With Mackie the outstanding exception, we didn't seem to have the desire to beat them today. We didn't close them down as quickly as we did Chelsea and Man City. The atmosphere was surprisingly flat. I put that down to being a goal down after just 57 seconds and to the early kick off preventing the noisy brigade from getting stoked up down the pub beforehand.
