MM is set to enter contract talks with forward Derek Riordan, whose short-term deal runs out at Christmas. But the Rovers boss says fellow Scotsman Riordan, who has failed to score in 12 appearances, is going to have to impress in order to stay at the Memorial Stadium. "Derek not only has to do a bit more but he has to convince me about his desire to be here," said McGhee. "It's been difficult for him - his wife had a baby and had all his legal stuff going on. We have to know how he feels about all of that before we can offer him anything."
IMO MM shouldn't bother with this he's had more then enough games to prove his worth. There's said to be 750 free agents out there surely there's someone we can sign from that lot.
"Derek not only has to do a bit more but he has to convince me about his desire to be here," said McGhee. Bluddy 'ell! If he don't know by now he never will. The fact that he has doubts is enough. Get rid!
Even when he plays in his fav position he looks out of place, let him go and spend Hogmanay in Scotland, he has just taken the money and would rather play elsewhere. Head and heart not in the game for Rovers Bye Bye Derek.Saying that he will probably break his duck at the weekend if selected. Spend the monies freed up more wisely MM. COR
Just want to see him play as a striker for 90 mins! I posted on another thread that he makes some fantastic runs, and if people actually gave him the ball he would start scoring. He's definitely the sort of player that will leave us, then score for fun elsewhere! Just wonder why MM can't get the best out of him?
Agree with gashead Give him 90 mins up front! Regarding; wondering why MM can't get the best out of him? IMO I don't think he is getting the best out of any of them! could be down to the fact he plays so many of them out of there positions! It's obvious that the players have no confidence in the Manager or of his Tactics (if that's what you call it)
Its ok making the runs, but if you aint got the players to supply the ball in the right place then you are gonna be wasting your time and eventually give up as you know that it aint gonna change. Do you think we have a decent midfielder who might actually be on the same wavelength and get in some decent through balls??? Thought not - can't expect him to be scoring regularily then can we!!!
