I have to say Delegator looked pretty impressive today, on his sprint debut! I was suprised to see he was entered in a sprint, and I have to admit I couldn't believe the Market move for him late on, but he won cosily in the end!* He didn't get the run of the race either, he was held in for quite a while, before Frankie could get the run, so he probably would have won even further had the gap came earlier!* I'd imagine 6 furlongs will be his distance, can't see him going down to 5, he has an entry for the Golden Jubilee so I'd assume that will be his next target, were he will face some of the best sprinters around! If he runs well at Ascot I'm sure the July Cup will be on the cards!* Based on today's run, I think sprinting could be the makng of this horse, and I'd fancy him to run a big race at Royal Ascot!*
Agreed. By all accounts it was a good time too, so given he might have won further and that he was looking a bit burly (apparently he's done nothing all winter, having his foot rebuilt), the mind boggles.
Delegator is a good horse with a good turn of foot - only found STS & Mastercraftsman too good in the Guineas & St James in 2009. The drop to six furlongs will do him no harm at all and he'll be there abouts in those kind of races this season - if he's good enough to beat all comers I'm not too sure? Sprinter I picked out was Lady Of The Desert and would have liked to have seen her out by now but looks to be Ascot bound fresh and I'm expecting some big runs from her this season!
Kentucky.....Well that's debatable, most people would argue his best ever performance, was his 2nd to Sea The Stars in the 2000 Guineas, and that came after winning the Craven 2 weeks before hand! I think he has done better on seasonal reapearence purely because of the standard of competition he's faced, he won a listed race last year on debut, and was then beaten in a G2, so it could just be the step up in class! Either way there's a nice lomg gap between, York and Royal Ascot so I wouldn't be to worried
Certainly impressed me so, unless that was a flash in the pan, he could be the one to fly the flag for the British in the major sprints (particularly stiff 6f).
