the tight budget is linked to the remaining big earners still on the books, it could be a season of consolidation unless we bite the bullet and play Oli & Jimmy. Even on high salaries, McShane & Ghilas won't play a part and are hard to shift.

Yep - I know what you mean. Without opening the old Bullard can of worms, once more - anyone with any sense (Perky?) can see that the previous Brown/Duffen dealings left us with highly-paid players whom we cannot easily shift.

It may be, as you say, that NP has to bite the bullet and play JB and Oli. (Oli, I'd guess, would jump at the chance. But Jimmy?):emoticon-0112-wonde

I honestly do not see the benefit of signing Adebola. Goal scoring record at best is piss poor. Wrong end of the age spectrum. I'd rather not sign him and save on his wage, truly ****ing horrendous signing.

A lot of Forest fans are sad to see him go, he quite often came on and turned games for them, hopefully he'll do the same for us.

This does of course mean we won't be signing a permanent, quality Centre Forward. If we were, why would we sign Adebola? Most clubs have 4 strikers on their books, so that's it now for us.

The Adebola news doesn't send me into raptures but neither did the Simpson & McClean purchases.I had hoped the financial situation might have improved but Hollywood Brown/Duffen and the Full time playboy have a lot to answer for.

I think our strikers are the least of our worries. I know last season it was always said that we have a quality defence and no front line, but really I don't think there was enough creativity in midfield. There weren't enough killer balls to send someone through 1 on 1, the majority of our goals were scored under pressure.

I think everyone should give him a break he hasn't even kicked a ball for us yet

Everyone has been calling for a target man including myself and we have got a very good target man who is tall and strong and still some people aren't happy

Unfortunately as has been mentioned above we simply don't have the money to be getting loads of quality young players. But Adebola will do a job for us, you have to trust NP's judgement when it comes to signings.

I agree that we should 'bite the bullet' and play JB if he's here but I'd make more of an effort to get rid of Oli as he isn't half the player JB is. He's done OK for Cardiff but never been that good for us.

I have heard the same as OLM,by all accounts he holds the ball up well and brings others into play. Sure he is our back up plan as either hold the ball up to give defence a break, or load the box for a last push.

My concerns are that we dont have the quality to supply the forwards, Stewart wont be back till October, Koren can link well, Barmby is a legend but cant ask for more then 45 mins tops out of him. We desprately need a ceative ball player in the middle of the park (i know we have one on the books but he wont be here come the end of the transfer window)

Absolutely. I think he'll be good for us, a proper alternative up front. Regardless though, everyone is entitled to have their opinion but let the guy live or die on his performances, not on your pre-judgements.

I'm prepared to give the guy a chance, not over the moon with the signing but the Forest fans who can pass better judgement than any of us seem disappointed to see him leave. I trust he has been signed by us with the right purpose in mind. He could be used as an impact sub in the last 20 minutes if we need to get something, i wouldn't expect him to be a nailed on starter every week. I'll wait till i see him play in a city shirt before i make any kind of fair assessment on him. Just a shame it'll be bound to give some of the AP and NP knockers a bit of ammunition :undecided:

Considering when we bought Bullard everyone thought he'd be the catalyst for our season and unfortunately for him it's not worked out. All the doom and gloom about this signing might not come to fruition and he could lead the line really well. I hope that's the case anyway.

I'm also willing to give Dele a chance. He can't be any worse than Mclean.

Can I just remind people, THIS IS A MESSAGEBOARD!!

The idea is that people debate things, swap opinions, have a bit of banter, post a bit of porn etc etc.

If anyone wants to say "Adebola is a shyte signing" they can do, it's not exactly an extreme point of view is it?

People who have that opinion are not necessarily going to tear up their season passes or Booo him every time he steps on the pitch, so what's the problem? Surely you can't be so naive as to think the guy might actually read this board?

Adebola will get his chance and I, for one, will never (as I have NEVER done to anyone wearing the amber and black) Boo the guy. But he is not IMHO either the right type of Centre Forward we need nor is he the right quality or age. If we can't afford better then IMHO, we would be better off doing without and finding a different plan B (assuming - and hoping - that is what he is to be).

Whether we have money or not, I think signing a 36 year old who wasn't exactly a stellar player at this level when he was younger, IS NOT A GOOD SIGNING.

I know Nigel Pearson has forgotten more about football than I will ever know, but the guy is human and can make mistakes (£1.3m for McLean!! :emoticon-0183-swear) and I think we could have found better than Adebola.

So for those banging on about "giving players chances" or those saying "He'll be good for us" it all rather depends on exactly what he is going to be asked to do.

if thats true and on august 6th against blackpool we'll have the same team of last season + hobbs, adebola, mckenna & some keeper.... its really quite pathetic.

after all the goals & ambitions the club is supposed to have of getting back to the top flight, this is how they think they'll get there ? a bunch of man-u youths who have hardly played a full season between them. a 36 year old past it 'striker'... and an average ageing midfielder..... i dont know whether to laugh or cry...

hobbs will be a good signing, not our 1st choice though as most of us wanted gerrard or ayala. i see its all gone quiet on the ayala front...
