Just caught the end of the sports news on radio Bristol on the drive into work this morning, and it appears Del has said he is now happy with the squad he has and will work with what he has rather than bring in new players........I may have missed a bit more, but that was the main part of it. I read it this way myself...........Del has been told the purse strings are now closed. Simples. We will now see his managerial skills at thier best...........I hope !
Being realistic I think we all know that SL is not going to allow the purse strings to be stretched beyond breaking point and looking around the clubs that are, or have been, in trouble it makes sense. You only have to look at our gate revenue stream to see that we not drowning in cash and it's the sensible people who can weather the storm on a long term basis. So our mix is in the blender and we have to see how the recipe comes out, realising that the first batch will probably have a different taste than later in the season when all the ingredients are available. Does the recent statement mean that we will not be a player in the January transfer window or do you think funds will be made available if the right player(s) comes along and the need is essential to round out the season? We need to remember that DM achieved good results on a more limited budget than he has now so we have to believe he will get us to where we will be satisfied this season. Next season will be a totally different scenario after he has had a complete year to analyze the situation. Bring it on Del.
