I didn't dare even go on these forums in the aftermath of the Wigan defeat, but then if I had I really don't know what I would have said as I have said it all half a dozen times this season already. I wasn't expecting us to beat Wigan, but it is simply not good enough to go to a team who hasn't kept a home clean sheet all season and not muster a single attempt on target. But it's not the first time; Southampton and Manchester United recently spring to mind as other games where we have offered literally no threat what-so-ever going forwards. But the funny thing is, defensively it was a pretty good performance again and we certainly were not any worse than Wigan. But for a gaffe from Camp (and I really feel for the guy, because it must be so frustrating that he only really has a save to make all match and gets it wrong) we would probably be talking about another clean sheet and point. I must say I am alarmed about just how poor we have been going forwards lately; easily the worst team in the league. But I am still positive we can stay up because we rarely get beat at home, and not to mention we will have Ruddy (a huge asset, and Bunn for next game), Tettey and Pilkington back soon. Looking ahead to next season, if we can get the midfield sorted (our defence is definitely good enough IMO) and this Wolfswinkel lad is as good as everyone says then we might not have to endure this so much next season.
I'll tell you what's deja vu mate, Chase telling us in '95 all we needed was four points to stay up with a similar amount of games remaining. We know what happened back then don't we
A guest appearance. I see déjà vu but not with 1995. This season is like the one with Roeder where we had a 13 run game but struggled towards the end of the season until the last home game where we beat QPR 3-0 and stayed up. My worry is look what happened to us the next season. Di Matteo anyone?
No thanks to Robbie. Had a poor spell at WBA and was, IMO just lucky at Chelsea. Their name was written on the CL that season. Rather have Zola or Poyet out of ex Chelsea players.
Nice to see you back Surgery. I'd personally want someone who knows the European markets inside out and can pick out some players. Also a cheerier outlook to playing the game would be much more appreciated.
Evening Carrabuh. Contribute to the odd thread and always look out for your comments, which always ring true for me. I think we will scrape through this season and will get behind the team but worry if Mr. Negative is in charge for the next. It is hard to be positive when watching this tripe week in and week out. Poor tactics, unable to adapt to the game, poor substitutions....etc it goes on and on. 1 win in 15 games and he is still in charge. Too late to do anything now but if things continue in the same style next season, get rid early.
I'd advocate keeping him until the end of this season then releasing him afterwards. I'm just not liking his post match comments, I think he has more of the same planned next season just with better players.
