Hi guys, just been reading through a number of your threads and thought I would ask the following to assess your expectations of your team.

I have noticed on many occasions this season that your manager Gary Whaddock has had his fair share of criticism, perhaps justified but perhaps not. Another frequent occurrence is the phrase - not improved with Gary Whaddock in his time at the club.

I accept you guys are not best pleased with this season and relegation hurts fans of all clubs but I am asking you to sit back and try to not let the heart rule the mind.

    1. What is realistic for Wycombe in the next 5 years - Where do you really think you will be in the football league pyramid, and why do you think that?

    2. Having got you promoted last season, do you really believe Whaddock can not do it again, either next season or the following one? and why do you think that?

    3. Define improvement for Wycombe - Let us say you get promoted again next season - what will an improvement be? Just avoiding relegation again, safe from relegation with 3 or 4 weeks of the season remaining or something more significant? and why do you think that?

Please try to be as objective as possible with your answers.

Bare in mind I like you guys and Wycombe Wanderers and not many things would please me more than to see your team challenging for the top 6 in League 1..

The reason I ask those 3 questions is, as an outsider I think your expectations are set a little too high. I know I am going to get some well based remarks/comments as that is the nature of this board so am looking forward to your responses <ok>

Morning thai we are a small club that have punched above our weight ie reaching two cup semi finalsin recent years and that is something a lot of bigger clubs havent got near to achieving in a hundrd years.as for the league we have no right to be in div 1 we have to earn it.i do expect us to be in the top six or eight clubs in div 2 every season and would consider that to be steady impvrovement for a club of our size with very little football league history.i guess we are a club that should be doing exactly what we are and yo yoing between divisions one and two.the one thing that annoys me about waddock is that he doesnt seem to have learnt anything from our last relegation and his tactics signings ans substitutions have been baffling to say the least.i dont expect us to get the better of the bigger clubs in div one but i do expect the team to put up a fight and that has been badly lacking in a lot of our games this season and its the managers job to motivate the players and he has clearly been lacking in that department.

    I would regard improvement as:

    Manager:
Shrewder signings, measured on their impact on the team's performance. Also goals conceded is highly visible.
Better tactical planning, before games and during games. There have been too many times when the manager seems to lack tactical wisdom. There needs to be a clear demonstration that the manager knows the opposition and fields the most appropriate team, and is also able to spot during a game where we are vulnerable and act accordingly. Substitutions in particular need to be made in time and should have a positive impact on the team performance.

    Players
We have seen how well they can play, we have seen how they can fight to the end. We have also witnessed some toothless performances. Whilst the manager should "rev up" the players, there is no excuse for players not trying and we have seen plenty of that this season. In terms of measurement, the improvement here would be clearer than any other aspect as it is clearly visible to the watching fans and painfully obvious to those not at the match when players are not trying and not supporting each other as a team. Conversely it is highly visible/obvious and very much appreciated when the whole team puts in 100% effort (regardless of the score).

    Off Pitch. Stability

We have to bear in mind though that every manager has a problem with team selection from time to time due to injuries/illnesses and that can, of course, result in some unavoidable problems. However, whatever team gets on the pitch should give 100%. If we get that every week it will be a massive improvement in itself.
