Still think we need a right back and centre back to give us solidity throughout. I'm sure MH will have his targets for these position...

We're still awaiting a 'marquee' signing! (allegedly)...

We need a FB and a top, top CB and we are set.

We have a very unbalanced squad with a mentally good midfield but a pretty bad defence, a couple of injuries and it gets real bad.

Flyer, WTF is a "mentally good midfield". With Barton and Diakite i think you could more accurately say we have a mental midfield ;)

Although i totally agree with your sentiment. We need a top CB.

Marquee signed. Stick it in front of the goal ... defence sorted.

Another amazing Flyerism. Keep your eye out for these little gems of wisdom. I'd love if I could go back and collect all these little nuggets from his posts because it would make quite a read. Goalkeepers should have "bouncier stances" is just one of this footballing geniuses ideas that sticks in my mind.

Sooper, ain't we already got right backs? Luke Young is still there. I happen to think our defence is alright as it is. Our problem last season was midfield. Hughes clearly thinks so too as that's the area he's been focusing on all Summer.

I think it's clear Young is out of favour and Onuoha isn't a natural right back. If we hit injuries and/or suspensions we'll be really down to the bare bones. Samba would be the icing on the cake, that would just give us the strength in depth we need to be comfortably mid-table. We've been linked with a few names so I think it's likely there will be additions, whatever happens we're miles better off than when we finished last season...

Good points there. I do think its a pity about Young because I reckon he's played quite well for us. At one stage it was unanimously agreed that he was the best of our Summer/Autumn signings. He's not brilliant and can get caught at times but he worked really well with the rest of the team going forward.

TF said there'd be three more signings so after Hoillett, there could be two defenders.

I've got a feeling Hughes has got his eye on one of the Man.City defenders, one of the players that might want to leave should any new defenders come in there. Not to sure on Toure, his wage demands are diabolical but maybe one of their full backs!

I know that we are probably looking further afield but does anyone know how young Harriman is progressing ? I know he played in that shambles of a game at wigan last year but is he getting anywhere near the first team , does Hughes rate him ? is he better than Young and is that why Young is surplus to requirements ? Are there any ITK's that know anything ?

I think Caulker would be a good signing for us

I keep hearing a lot of talk about Samba but didnt that Russian team spend loads of money on him in Jan?? Why would they let him go so soon? I would love to see this happen but im just not that confident. I agree Hughes has got his eye on someone, maybe Toure or Gallas which would both be good signings for us. Young will leave to we need a right back as well. A CB and RB and we are really set next year, anything else will be a bonus.
