I agree with your analysis there, but something else I'd like to point out... Especially last night I noticed Aqua was jumping into a lot more tackles, and I think with Lucas next to him they could both really help each other and perhaps even develop together.

It was obvious last night Aqua is needed for the coming season, which makes me think all of these "reports" are purely speculation and it's his agent feeding the press.

Good post though. We maybe did take our watertight defence for granted under Rafa. It's not of that quality now though and teams around us have improved theirs.

NO. It shows that we have not yet played our strongest back line.

You should see the number of goals we concede in little five-a-side training games. It really is a major concern. You'd think all your Christmases and all your porn subscriptions had come at once. It'd be cumfest all over your bedroom.

    Afternoon,

I couldn't comment on that as I haven't seen your games, but from what I hear you haven't been playing your strongest defence.

Just out of interest, why not ? the season is almost here .I assume they have injuries ?

At present we don't have a strongest defence, we only have an average defence!

I think we need a least a LB. Definately a LB.

It's a good question Eric and one that i don't have a real answer to. Johnson is/was injured, Skrtl got a tweak in Asia, Agger - well Agger ia Agger!

I think Kenny has been trying to see if the kids have carried over their form from last season and then trying different premutations to see the strength (or otherwise as it has proved) of his cover options. I don't think we have yet seen our back 4 in anything like the shape that we will start the season with. But time and games are running out. It may well be that we have to buy a CD (Dann?) and/or a LB.

I just hope that Kenny and Steve Clarke have "a cunning plan".

If, and a big if it is, we could keep Aurelio healthy, I would disagree. However, we'd be lucky to get even 15 games out of him. I rate him very highly as a left back, and when arbeloa was still here, I believe he played half the season or more, could just be a fuzzy memory, though. If not, then i completely agree. I believe Kenny hasn't played him in the preseason because he wants to get every healthy game out of him in the actual season...

We can't though mate. We have to just bite the bullet on this one.

Sell Insua, buy a new LB and use Aurellio as cover.

I think CB is our biggest issue.

We have a few players that can cover as LB to good standard. Unless we can get a real top notch LB then without doubt i think a CB is more important.

Been watching **** loads of LFC TV recently and all the pundits agree that CB is a much more needed addition presently than a LB (although both would be nice). Lets face it if Gary Gillespie thinks this then who are we to question it!

I think both may be foreign as well ( CB and LB) but possibly CB might be cahill or dann. Feel the Cahill chat is really quiet and Arsenal don;t seem in for him, think one of the big guns are though, could well be us.

Baines and Cahill, I would feel a lot better about our defense. Doubt these will happen unless we get rid of some players and get some of what we have been spending back to balance the books a little.

True. But there is also the problem of them being at our vastly inferior neighbour! Probably wouldn't move to us.
