Seems all above board and no doubt Troy is one of the few who really has his heart in the club and is so important for us on and off the pitch. Does anyone have an issue with this though? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/troy-deeney-skips-optional-watford-7742564?
Not really. He's been with the club for nearly six years and this is his only reported day off, other than the court/prison episode, for all of which he has more than adequately made up - and it was an optional day anyway, as the club pointed out. To equate the thrashing at Arsenal six days later with his absence is, quite frankly, astonishingly poor journalism. Which begs the question - is John Cross Martin Samuel's secret paramour? Or, given that the article ends with a 'Deeney for England?' poll, has he heard whispers that Deeney could be promoted to the England squad and is simply ****-stirring in an attempt to stop that?
I'm in agreement. They would look even sillier if the reason he didn't go to training was that he was visiting the Hornet Ward in Watford General! (BTW, I have absolutely no idea whether he was, I just want people who write articles like this to be made to look as silly as possible). Is he the only player who is a dad? If so, he was using the option to spend some more time with his son. It would be interesting to know if Suarez opted out so he could spend some extra time with his pregnant partner.
You say that and I agree that its hardly a real issue as we all know Deeney works hard and tries plays well each week but elsewhere there have been a few negative comments but you cannot please everyone.
i don't have an issue...the key word is 'optional' but..having said that, i'd want the Captain to show the others that 'optional' doesn't really mean 'optional', especially after a dodgy run of results.
