20 goals + in 3 consecutive seasons!! Troy Deeney scored the opener to become the first Watford player to pass 20 goals for a third successive season. "It's never been done and if I stop playing now no-one can take it away from me. Love me or hate me that's mine," he tells Sky Sports. "This win will only be remembered if we go up."
If we did go up I think he might actually explode with joy! I run out of superlatives to describe him - absolute star.
Fantastic Deeney - boy did he turn his life around - I am sure Watford has helped several players who have had "silly" episodes in the past. Deeney = brilliant
THE most improved player I can remember seeing. And don't forget how many games he missed in the first of these three record breaking seasons.
Yes, I cannot praise him highly enough. Yesterday he almost ran himself into the ground. During the final 10 minutes you could see just how hard it was for him to keep going. Another thing that doesn't get mentioned often is his concern for other players both Watford and opposition if he thinks they have been injured. He will stay with the player until medical help arrives. He really has turned into a good all round person after his earlier disaster.
I'm sure I read somewhere that at the time of his offence, he was actually defending his brother, in which case, he may have committed the offence, but it is easy to see how it could have happened! He certainly is a player you can justifiably be proud of now, you must get promoted this season, he deserves to pit his wits against World class defenders!
Absolutely - I'm not really a fan of holding up footballers as role models but Troy really is a superb example of what can happen when someone is given a second chance.
A good article in the WO where he talks about himself. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._to_making_Watford_FC_history_in_three_years/
We just have to go up. Deeney is in the prime of his career and really has to have his shot at the Premier League. If we somehow fall short this year I doubt anyone would begrudge him a move to a PL club.
