I notice some one say the have only three English players. With out trying to sound Bigoted. I think this will be a problem for them.
They've got one of the best youth squads in the country and Magath is playing quite a few of them but they'll be eaten alive in the Championship...
I have nothing against Fulham at all. However, it can only help us in the future if they continue on down the leagues. If and when we get a new stadium, the fewer near rivals that are playing at the same level the better for our future attendances etc.
This thread has me thinking about SWP and his performances in the championship. I can't help but think that the way football is played in the championship can make some players look quite ordinary. Maybe it's a style of play or the difference between the quality of players. If you think about it, some teams are made up of L1 style (Shall we say raw) players and some teams have a higher quality player that may not deal well with the rough and tumble of the more raw players. We might find (but I'm not holding my breath) that SWP could have some improved performances. I have no answers just putting the question out there. I was wondering if between us we could put our collective heads together and work this conundrum out.
Magath won't last the season. I envy their youth set up and its great to give these guys game time, but Leeds, Sheff Wed and others have gone down that route in the Championship (more out of necessity than choice mind) and it was a disaster. Its not the league to blood 5 or 6 academy products.
Karma eh? Just remember walking out at the Cottage and them laughing at us. Also remember their reserve team gloating at us from the cottage balcony until £5k of change hit them. A day etched in my memory, felt totally gutted that day so I must say I'm taking just a little bit of delight in their travails at present What goes around comes around.
That's why I'm not holding my breath. The longer I keep the fumes in my lungs the higher I get and I got stuff to do today!!!! :0 I'm not expecting him to improve to be honest just thought it was a good way to make my point that the championship has very high quality players at the top end and very low quality players at the bottom end. I just wondered what others thought about the clash between the two and how that played out on the pitch.
They are very much in the same position as we found ourselves at the start of last season....highly paid players not justifying their salaries, now looking to get rid of the "wrong sort"........ I suppose Harold should get some credit for the clear out and doing the job eventually of getting us promoted....Fulham are unlikely to do it with the number of youngsters they are playing, they basically need the type of player we had last year, O'Neill, Henry, Barton, Dunne, Hill, Green etc those who were prepared to battle and have that bit of experience required to get out of that league......Felix will be gone before long.....
