Continuing the season monthly reviews, we have reached December. After a very up and down month in November, our first game of the month of Christmas was West Brom away.

We arrived at the Hawthorns thinking we should be able to get something. But the performance was dire, really dire. Tchoyi(?) got a goal against us(surprise) to put them 1-0 up. We were not playing well at all, Carroll and Ameobi creating nothing. We were still missing Coloccini and Williamson, and Guthrie started in the middle. Guthrie fell over in the second half, I still to this day don't believe that he was injured, WBA went up the other end and scored straight from Guthrie giving the ball away. Lovenkrands got a goal back in stoppage time, a 3-1 defeat and things were looking bleak. And this followed.

On the Monday after the game, Chris Hughton was sacked. At the time we were 11th, a very good position really considering we had just came up. It wasn't justified unless they were going to bring in someone with a bit of class. We got Alan Pardew...

No one wanted him, simple as that, and his first interview annoyed me, sucking up to the fans, saying he had just got the job this week etc...

Anyway, a new chapter started, Liverpool at home, Pardew's first game. The way we set up was Chris Hughton all over. The first goal came from a training ground set piece, Barton to Carroll at the back post who headed it back across goal for Nolan to tap in. Kuyt then equalised early in the second half, it was a close game, great atmosphere. Ranger flicked a ball on to Barton who was through on goal, he got clattered, but just before had managed to flick the ball into the bottom left corner in front of the gallowgate. Eruptions! 2-1! Stoppage time, some nice skill from Carroll and great battling from Barton saw the ball given to Enrique on the left, he played it inside to Carroll who unleashed an unstoppable shot into the far right hand corner, what a strike! 3-1, Pardew starts with a win.

Our next game was Birmingham away, but this was called off just 2 hours beforehand due to snow.

We then played Man City AT HOME ON BOXING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But we lost.

Two goals from Man City in the early minutes saw them two up, we dominated from there and should have been winning. We got one back midway through the second half and we thought another comeback was on the cards but Tevez scored a fluke, which has now gone down as Coloccini own goal. We were unlucky, a very good performance but just couldn't score.

We then travelled to Tottenham two days later. 2-0 defeat, Carroll got injured, the less said about this one the better.

It was definitely a month that changed NUFC once again, changing managers, injuries to key players, but, we had an easy FA Cup tie at Stevenage coming up in January...

The Liverpool win set me up nicely with the in-laws coming to my house for Christmas.

I kept asking what they thought of Carroll :)

Bastards had the last laugh eventually though <grr>
