Debuts, Good & Bad

with the news coming thru that Bridcutt is having a medical at Leeds, it got me thinking how disappointed I am that he didn't fulfill his promise after a great debut performance vs the Mags.

Whose debuts can you remember and for what reason ?

Stan Varga vs Arsenal.... absolutely awesome debut, spraying the ball 30-40 yards as if he was Hoddle and running with the ball like Alan Hansen

 

Bent. Cana. Catts and Campbell all made their debut the same day.

 

Didn't know that marra ... Great stat

 

Just mentioned Charlie Hurley on another thread. Debut scored an own goal in a 7-0 defeat. The following week got beat 6-0.

 

Big Stan Varga had a great debut.

 

Kevin Phillips against Ajax. It wasn't a competitive fixture so not really classed as his debut.

His performance certainly made me sit up and notice him though!

 

Could Paddy McNair be the new Charlie Hurley ?

 

I was away at the time, but I heard Kirchhoff looked a real star in his first game

 

Tore Andre Flo v Man U.
All went downhill from there like sadly.

 

One of the most impressive debuts I've ever witnessed Billy.... I honestly thought we'd unearthed an absolute 'worldly'

Tony Norman for me against Portsmouth on a New Years eve, 88 I think. After Hesford, this lad was the business..

 

I can remember the mags new signing Asprila. Never seen or heard of him before. Came on as a sub with about 20mins to go and ****ing shredded us.

Scored the winner iirc.
