Debuchy is making noises that he may have to leave Arsenal to stay in the French squad for Euro 2016. It got me thinking who is the best fullback? I personally prefer Janmaat. He seems more solid in defence and in attack. MD had the edge on pace but Janmaat carries the ball well. Both put in a lot of effort but I think again, DJ edges it for me. He is vice captain material. One moment on Sunday epitomised DJ for me.... When he was in an offensive position and when the ball went out of play he turned to the Milburn Stand and urged them to get behind the team with something of a war cry with fists pumping.... and it worked..
True, I have given up on Janmaat as a defensive entity, but going forward he's the only one who can cross. However, I think Debuchy deserves better than us. I hope he goes somewhere like Palace.
Janmaat isn't a full back. He's a wing back and we don't have the ability or room to accomodate wing backs. I'd love to see us get a proper right back and play Janmaat as a proper midfielder - where he was often played for The Netherlands up until the last world cup..
Debuchy as a ..defending ..fullback ...plus he was immense in the air, and nae bad going forward too Janmaat as an attacking fullback/wingback ..captain material ...not great defensively and can be a tad ...thick ..at times Debuchy for me
Why are we debating right backs when we have one already? Especially when what we really need is at least 5 new left backs (7 if we want decent cover on the bench).
