Alan Bowkett has just announced that we will be free of all external debt within 12 months

wow, less than 3 years ago we nearly folded and we're now almost completely clear of toxic debt

    That is a huge achievement!

The bottom line is the club and the fans are the most important thing.

Without doubt Lambert, Holt...etc are legends and long may they stay, but ultimately they will go and that always leaves those who remain loyal for a lifetime. OTBC!

If we can refrain from getting to debt through buying poor players at exhorbitant prices we should be able to establish ourselves for a long time as there are a heck of alot of Premiership teams who have blown the lot and have nothing left. I don't mind us getting into debt however providing its on tangible and constant things such as youth facilities and especially the ground which is in real need for expanding. We are ready for a 30,000 + seater stadium and I'd say it is of primary importance this gets done so if we do go down we have a bit more muscle to get back up again. If we ever get to average over 30,000 a week then we will have moved up a level, we cant get left behind by the likes of Derby and Leicester who have made that jump (when in Premiership). I think people take you a bit more seriously once you command those sort of figures.

We would no longer a Championship team in the Premiership.

You’ll rack the debt back up again in no time, no doubt next season when you start to panic buy in a desperate bid to stay up. As the house that Lambchops built inevitably comes tumbling down like a pack of cards around ya’ll, there’ll be plenty of agents ready to royally fleece you budgies to leave a legacy of decades of League One and Two football at Carrot Road. <bubbly>

It was. seven year plan that needed two seasons in the Premier League, we knew this a while ago. It's only a shame that that was the extent of your ambition!

interesting thoughts carrabuh. one thing i would say is that huge attendances don't help derby get out of the championship. what will definitely help us is the extra money from parachute payments which will be over four years and effectively give you an extraordinary chance of immediately getting straight back up. i do agree that the stadium needs to have the capacity increased to at least 30,000 though as soon as possible but attendance won't help us get back up if we do go down - parachute payment will <ok>

    extent of our ambition? eh???

do you have any idea what you are typing yorkie???

no doubt ipswich have a plan (as if) in place for world domination <doh>

ours is more to secure the clubs future and then push on to become established before aiming higher and higher. what i call 'sensible' as well as being ambitious, not to mention we are 4 years ahead of plan!

by the way, for those wondering, roberto martinez has just been asked about the vacancy at villa and guess what, he basically just said exactly the same as lambert did.

I'd disagree, Derby and Leicester bought mostly rubbish. They just failed to use their advantage to the full. Players, managers like big attendances. It makes us a far more attractive option and at least the present playing staff think before looking elsewhere. You are also forgetting we would not be the only ones with the parachute payments. We would not just competing against those already in the Championship. I think big crowds are a huge advantage.

oh your absolutely right about the attraction of the bigger stadium. all i'm saying is its slightly less advantageous now than it would have been two years ago. its obviously better for all of us though! <ok>
