I don't think its the singing that's the problem, but the general demographic of those partaking in said activity. I do enjoy oscillating atmospheric sound waves myself, but many are youthful yobbo types, who are just ****s.
It is probably more to do with standing, singing generally is done standing up, and I guess they are giving those that want to remain seated the option to do that. They can't actually come out and say it, but in reality that is what usually happens.
Fortunately, assuming the north stand is supposed to be the singing section, we won't suffer a similar problem, as there's nowhere else to expand into. Then again, it seems a fair few having tried the north experiment have either abandoned the KC altogether, or looked to get back into the east.
People who have their "match day experience" hindered by singing at a football match is a good illustration of the sort of ****s you get at football nowadays. Of which we appear to have a disproportionate number amongst our fans. No wonder the atmosphere is so poor.
I sat further up in the West Stand Upper for the last home match. I now know why hardly anyone sings or stands up in there. They are still out of breath from climbing the steps to get to their seats! Once they have enough breath in them to shout, all they can manage is a quite "forward!" or two and its time for a piss. Stannah should sponsor the West Stand Upper. Back to Brighton, can we please cut out any homophobic chants when we play there, they are sensitive, people, Brighton supporters and it is bad enough them being practically french.
Why do you think some people preferred sitting at the top of Bunkers or in the best stand at BP? Its nothing new and has been going on for years, some people like to watch football without singing songs, they have as much right to be there as anyone else.
I have posted before that it is quite different for me at home and away matches. At the KC I hardly mutter a word, I just get caught up with watching the game. At an away match it is completely the opposite, I stand and chant. I cannot explain this.
You are missing the point. People used to sit at the top of Bunkers because they preferred sitting. No one ever thought in those days that singing songs spoilt the match day atmosphere. Could you imagine Liverpool fans saying the Kop used to spoil the match day experience? Or Man Utd ones the Stretford End? The trouble is the sit down shut up brigade, of who we seem to have more than most clubs, want everyone else to be the same. Contrast the Leicester fans or the Stoke fans at away games at the weekend compared to our support in the PL. all stood up backing the team where we had people sat down taking photos of the opposition and complaining to stewards people were getting in the way. Strange how all those grounds people complained about stewards making people sit down don't seem to make other teams do the same. Probably because they are all together whilst our fans aren't and quite happy to see fellow fans ejected. Still, never mind. The KC will soon be the theatre type experience ,where people sit quietly contemplating the game, that so many of our fans seem to want.
"Sit down if you're Hull City" would be a good one as we have a larger proportion of people sat down than other clubs. Only problem is that those sat down don't sing so it is hardly going to be stirring.
I don't stand up or jump, when anyone tells me! Its the lack of manners, "please stand up if you are Hull City" would be so much nicer!)
I didn't see or hear anyone complaining about people getting in the way yesterday. I don't think anyone thinks people singing ruins the game, I think some people prefer to sit and others are just better people than the groups of yobs that tend to congregate shouting abuse at people, telling them what to do and just being complete and utter ****s and would rather be as far away from them as possible. Specially those with kids.
