Straight swap (no extra transfer fees and wages cancel out); Rooney out (Chelsea), Baines & Fellaini in. Would you take it?
Not a bad deal. Shipping him to Everton is not a bad outcome but he won't go there! With Rooney it is no longer a question of money. It is about DM's credibility as the manager of Manchester United. He simply CANNOT allow fat Roon to go to the Chavs. Whether it is for £60m or Rooney goes on strike, he DM will be seen to be a total loser. Even if the Chavs do not win the title with fat Roon on board. A no brainer. Rooney simply cannot be sold to the Chavs. If it happens, DM won't survive the huge symbolic defeat to Jose and to the Chavs. EDIT: misread the poll as a swap with Everton. Selling to the Chavs? NO F**KING WAY!
NO.. if Rooney money is used to buy those 2, then NO.. I was always under the impression that money for selling Rooney will go to players like Bale or CR. remember we signed no one so far this season .. are you telling me the owners need to sell to buy new players? Moyes was promised big money spending .. and above don't suggest that
No. If it was Rooney going somewhere else and Fellaini and Baines coming in that would be fine. We would get the best LB in the league and a top class CM and lose a top class forward, thus staying pretty much as strong as we are. But if Rooney goes to Chelsea we stay roughly as we are and massively strengthen one of our main rivals. Which would not be rep!
For everyone slagging Rooney off and calling him fat etc, why are you so worried he'd strengthen us then??! P.S Baines is NOT the best L.B in the league. When he proves it in C.L finals or season in season out at the highest level and for England come back and have a chat about it.
Baines has been the best LB in the league for 2 years lad, check out the stats & come back with a reasoned argument, as if (as I suspect) you're claiming Cole has the edge on him, then you're about 3 seasons out of date.
Cos he may be fat, lazy and whiny, but he is also a quality footballer. Sadly, he is one of those players like Gazza who can, and will, get by on talent alone. And, more importantly, he is neither Torres nor Ba. P.S. You may be right about Baines, but then Evra is getting on a bit now And I was talking about over the past two seasons, where Baines has been better than either Evra or Cole imo.
Well obviously, but set pieces don't harness all the qualities of a left back do they? He mentioned stats and Baines' set pieces obviously boost them.
You don't need to busy yourself with stats just look at the PFA team of the year for the past two seasons. I don't think anyone is saying he's better than Cole was at his peak, just that he's better than Cole is now (although I'd say from an attacking perspective he is better than Cole was at his peak).
Rooney problem is his consistency, you never know what season he will have regarding UTD is his stupid actions at times that annoy us the most
I still think Cole is brilliant, run around like a 25 year old, he's not England's number one for nothing. I highly rate Baines but just don't think he's as good as Cole. Would agree re the attacking side of things though.
2-3 years ago, YES Cole was better, but now I think Baines is ahead as he is in his peak of his career
