thats interesting. i thought he was fine to be honest. not outstanding, but he definitely had something and was good back up at least. is this to allow for a loan keeper? i personally hope not - i'd rather we bring in an outfield player. i've seen nothing from steer to suggest he isn't a capable reserve keeper - in fact, he is better than rudd in my opinion.
I don't think he was average. I think he was clearly a top class defender for the future, just a bit too prone to mistakes at this inexperienced stage. And also he was versatile so very useful. So quick. Clearly not been cancelled because he's not performing- it must be his injuries. Allows us to bring in a keeper on loan if Ruddy gets banned/injured I suppose.
I think it is a sensible decision, although I do think he is a decent defender there is no point in having a loan space filled by another clubs injury prone player if someone else can be bought in. I imagine Lambert may well have someone lined up to fill that spot. Who is anyone's guess, or as you say is saving it for a back up keeper
I've rather liked him, but I suppose it's not a huge surprise. When he was signed, none of us could have known how well R. Martin would perform at center back. His performances have meant we're well covered for central defence, as well as full back. Therefore, in the current squad, he is rather surplus to requirements. My one fear now is that, should someone move for Naughton before the end of january, we could have a problem to solve.
I'd love to se him here permanantely, but as you say, Lambert's said no go. What we don't know is would another club, offering more than we could afford, tempt Spurs into letting him go. Certainly hope not. As for a loan keeper, I think we've probably got to do it. Not just in case of injury, but also in case of suspension.
I'm personally not too devastated about this, if we can bring in a top quality young player on loan like bolton did with sturridge/wilshere etc. then i see that as better use of a loan slot then de laet. That being said i did think when he played well he was very good but with russ and naughton at RB Ayala, whitbread, Barnett, Ward, Russ at CB and Naughton tierney and drury at LB you can see why lambert chose to let him go. I couldn't see him forcing his way into the team in any position currently so agree with the decision.
shame really as i was looking forward to him getting a crack at the whip again. trouble is other players are playing well and ahead of him plus he's injured as said makes room for a loan move for Messi or Ameobi??
