Hardly unexpected, but I thought that he deserved a thread of his own. The club captain has joined fellow former Spurs players Jake Livermore and Tom Huddlestone at the KC Stadium. He played 324 games for us, scoring 10 goals, was a part of our 07/08 League Cup winning squad, though he missed the final and was voted our Player of the Year in 09/10. That was the year that we qualified for the Champions League, a campaign which he went on to feature heavily in, including both legs of our victory over AC Milan. I'm sure that everyone will wish him well and welcome him back to the Lane in the future, both when we play Hull and when he'll hopefully drop in for other games. A very well liked player and deservedly so. One of my favourite Dawson moments:
I think the words of Daniel Levy on the official site, sum up perfectly how so many of us feel about Dawson.
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/hull-move-for-dawson-agreed-260814/ Chairman Daniel Levy said: "Michael has been an outstanding Club representative both on and off the field throughout the nine-and-a-half years he has served our football club. "He has always given everything for the Spurs shirt - just one of the reasons he is so deservedly popular throughout the Club with teammates, staff and fans alike. "His contribution cannot be under-estimated. He has been a fantastic individual and personality and a great influence on our younger players, for whom he always found time. We wish him the best of luck in the next chapter of his career." Michael added: "I have been here for almost a decade and have loved every minute of it. "I would like to say thank you to everyone at the Club, including the supporters. We have enjoyed some incredible moments together and I hope the Club continues to move forward in the future." First interview with Hull: Looks kind of gutted to have gone. Not many around that show that kind of loyalty. Hope he goes on to do the business for Hull. Might even be able to get back into the England squad, if he combines well with Curtis Davies.
Can't see anything on the site about it SC, might've been posted prematurely and taken down again? (Edit: nevermind, PNP has posted it) Anyway, great player for us on the pitch and a terrific servant for the club in general. It's a shame to see him go but he's gone to a good club and he doesn't deserve to be spending his last few seasons at the club pushed to the side and not getting games.
We play Hull at WHL for our last home fixture on 16th May. I'm sure he'll get a great reception, but I hope that he doesn't come back to bite us on the arse that day.
Brings a tear for the eye reading that statement from Daniel Levy and then Dawson himself! It's already been said but you don't often see loyalty like he's shown these days. You could never question his commitment to the club and I think he will do great at Hull if they play him in the right way. He'll get a fantastic reception when he comes back to the lane and rightly so.
The supporters need to petition the club now to ensure the message is clear that Dawson deserves a testimonial game at WHL.
So sad to see Daws leave our club. Loyal to the end. Very best wishes to him for a happy time with Hull & reunion with two old mates!
Can only wish Daws the best at Hull. A rare breed of honest, decent, hard working players. No fuss. Just showed up every week and gave 100% no matter what. Can you ask for more from a player?
Superb player for us and a superb guy. Really sad to see him go even though I know it's in his best interests. Wish him the very best at Hull, they've got themselves a great signing. That's now two legends gone in the past 3 years, hate it when eras come to an end.
Have you got any more cast offs for us up north? Hudd & Livermore have been great and now Dawson. Any strikers we can have?
We've only got three senior strikers at the club and one of them's only 21. You can have Jonathan Obika if you like, but he's just about a Championship player.
Would Bruce be interested in taking any Spurs Academy kids on loan at Tottenham Hullspurs ?? Getting rapport with PL clubs who play decent football is good for Spurs.
