I don't think so, he didn't want to come before and we don't need him now. Why swap our best striker for a defender anyway.

    Where's this come from?

Remy AND cash for a slow defender? Levy would be a magician to pull that off!...

Saw an article the other day [but it was the Mail] about a straight swap for Remy going to Tottenham with Dawson and Townsend coming to us.
Harry did say however that it wouldn't happen.

Lose a striker (where we are short) and swap for defender and winger, where we have decent cover.

    What a load of twaddle.

As I opined on an earlier thread, if this rumour has any substance, I'd hope that Tony Fernandes matches Daniel Levy in his negotiations skills:

    1. Not for sale!

If Spurs return AND 'break contract / buyout clause' is reached.

    2. Only deal involves £11m upfront, AND the permanent transfer of Andros Townsend, AND 50% sell on clause for future sale of Loïc Rémy.
    3. Deal maker [AND they remove the sell on clause for Adel Taarabt <laugh>]

All these ideas are just fine ... except ...

If Spurs match the amount in the buy-out clause then they can speak to Remy and offer him a contract.

We do NOT have to accept less cash plus a player (or two) as a make-weight, regardless of who they are or how much they are worth. Even then the player/s concerned would have to want to move and would have to agree terms with QPR and that might not be so easy!

For me, the most important part of this is hardly ever mentioned. Remy must agree to a move.

He has to decide whether he want to go to Spurs or not. Yes, they are in the Europa League but I cannot see them getting a Champions League place next season (unless they win this years Europa League).

Does Remy want to tie himself down to Spurs for three or four years? He would have to negotiate a good get-out clause before signing. Will that happen?

I think that he knows that his next move MUST be the right one. If that means staying at QPR for one more year (or until January) then so be it.

Hopefully he will do the sensible thing and give it one more year!

So - in short - the only way a move will happen is if it is a cash deal and Remy decides to take up the offer. Neither are certainties, especially as Levy seems to favour using us to get rid of some of his excess stock rather than stump up cash.

    4. I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick

If an £11m release clause exists all they need to do is offer £11m and then its up to Remy. You can stamp your tiny feet as much as you like Sku.

I read somewhere Spurs declined to sell Dawson to Hull (as part of the Alex Bruce plus cash to Blackburn in return for Rhodes chain) because he is still needed.

Unfortunately we can't add a 'sell on' clause as £11 million is the contractual fee. I'd be surprised if he opted for them as they're not Champions League and I doubt they will be top four this season even with him...

Total nonsense, we've already stated no players in part exchange.

The one thing that concerns me most about all of this is that we don't know what Remy himself wants to do. We could end up with a scenario where he goes on deadline day leaving us no time to find a replacement. The result of which we are up the proverbial creek without the proverbial paddle!

Yes, but not every club has a player that won't commit to his club. So what do we do, replace him on the assumption that he will go?

Defoe and cash might have done it, but that ship has sailed.

Philosophical question - if a buy-out clause is triggered, in a forest, but nobody is there to hear it, is it actually triggered (before September 1st)?

So all we have to do is give the LR squirrel a little ninja outfit and some stale bread and get it to sneakily stuff them in Beard's and TF's ears and hope they don't notice for the next 8 days.

    What could be easier?
