Yeah, Stockdale was signed at the same time as Kevin Ellison I believe, both to just strengthen the squad to ensure our promtion to the championship. To be fair, both played their part in acheiving that objective, but they were never really going to get much gametime in the championship.

Stockdale had played 75 games in the Premier League for Boro before he came to us, I remember him being an exciting signing at the time.

I thought NP said he wasn't going to loan in a keeper?

Thats true OLM, however, I think he left Boro after a bad long term injury and was labouring along with Rotherham who were cast adrift at the foot of the championship when we signed him. I think it was hoped it would re-ignite his career (similar to the Bridges scenario) but it never happened for him really.

Stockdale never recovered from PT giving him the hook about 10 minutes into one game!

Always remember him for two things. First for a game one freezing cold day when it was absolutely pissing down. Half the players had gloves on, probably had three undershirts and their wife's tights on too. Stockdale had a short sleeved shirt on. And sunglasses.

Also went to a reserves game against Hartlepool. Stockdale managed to get sent off and we were 4-0 down at half time.

I'd forgotten he existed until I watched Boothferry Legend's promotion video on youtube.

Stockdale was great when called up by Fulham last season, would worry though that they would call him back under any loan agreement as he is very decent.

Indeed they have. They're after a new number 1 after De Vries left as well (who bizzarely joined Wolves to sit on the bench behind Hennessey)

That's us out of the running then :(

The same Danny Coles that had a nightmare on a midweek game at the KC when we lost 5-2 or something to Ipswich was it! Brownie should have hauled him off in the first half and he got got worse before he was subbed late in the game.

Everyone had us down for relegation after that but we managed to win at the KC a few days later against Preston and the rest is history when we stayed up and put the white sh*te down.

Seemed to remember Coles also played the opening game at home to Plymouth in what turned out to be our promotion season ahead of Michael Turner - only game that season when we lost after having taken the lead. Well done Brownie.

Fortunately for us it was one of them weird coincidences in football, that the team that lost to Plymouth on the opening day went up that season. Happened to Derby the season before and the team before them.

Think Coles got badly booed by the crowd as we were all expecting Turner to be in the first XI.
