The 'Moyes hasn't won anything' argument is bollox IMO. He's been at a club where winning trophies is virtually unheard of nowadays (no offence intended Everton fans), they have had next to no money and would have been happy with mid-table finishes yet he has had them challenging for a top four spot for how many seasons? He has served a long apprenticeship at a premier league club, this is his chance at the big time.
Didn't people say the same thing about Villanova replacing Guardiola this year? And that was a worse situation to be in, as Mourinho had just beaten Barca to the title and spent loads on Coentrao, Modric et al. It's ultimately pointless to make such sweeping predictions until the season starts imo - you never know how a team is going to perform until they actually start playing.
It could go either way for Utd to be honest. I think Moyes was a smart appointment myself. People keep blabbing on about his trophy record (or lack thereof) but winning something with that club would have been miraculous given the amount of money they spend, even clubs like Stoke and Swansea easily outspend Everton. Yet Everton consistently finish in the top 6 pretty much every year and have come very close to nicking a trophy or two (Fa Cup final against my lot not that long ago). If Everton has beaten Villareal that year and qualified for the Champions League Group stage in 2006 we may have seen a very different Everton in the last 6-7 years (ie one that actually has money). Still, you never know, it will probably take a season or two for everything to click in place and for Moyes to build HIS united. So now is a good chance for City and Chelsea to grab a title or two.
His average league finish has been 8th. That's not challenging for top 4. And whilst he's been there less fancied teams have won trophies.
In his 11 seasons it has happened 5 times so less than 50%. Can that be described as 'pretty much every year' then'?
On the years he hasnt done it, he has missed out by a few points. But the point is, he had Everton finishing higher than they ever had any right to. With the money they spent compared to other PL clubs they should be relegation fodder.
His average position is 8th which is also Evertons position in the all time league table so I fail to see what he's done that's so amazing. Matching a clubs historical position over 100 years is well errrrr average.
He hasnt done anything amazing, he has done well. Again, looking at how much money they spend, they have no business being in the top 10 at all, yet they always are. Im not saying Moyes is amazing, there are better managers, but he is not by any means bad. Saying that, I do expect Man Utd to dip in the coming years.....you cant replace a guy like SAF and expect to stay at the top unchanged.
That post weren't on this thread, and it was a reply to another post Swarbs, what are you up to Another post in that thread you took that from states Barca are what they are, United are no Barca and United without Fergie are not Barca without Pep as they have proven they could do it with their new manager missing for periods while getting treatment in the USofA but I guess the business end of 13\14 will prove one of us right
**** are you talking about?! It's post 16 in this thread...have you finally drunk yourself blind? As for the highlighted bit, for the past 26 years no one's seen Utd without SAF so you are simply proving my point that it is pointless to make such a sweeping prediction. But don't let that stop you
It's "What the **** are you talking about?" And it was a reply to another post which you did not include. Also, I said the end of next season will reveal all. You call me drunk but it is you my corporate knob sucking friend who is trying to have a pissing contest over a post I made in reply to someone else Edit: Sorry I left you pretentious, very important and also extremely apt
Still not entirely sure what you are talking about, but that never really changes! My point, which you seem to have failed to grasp, is that Giggsy_legend made a prediction and admitted it was just that. You then replied with your usual sweeping talk-bollox-and-present-as-fact statements of "it just imo ain't gonna happen unless Fergie pulls the strings from the back seat for the next season" and "United without Fergie are not Barca without Pep". You can try to wind your neck in as much as you want, but ultimately you are just making a fool out of yourself. As usual I await a predictable reply about pissing contests and comparisons whilst you once again dodge the points I've made. Actually no I don't. I'm off to bed.
