What was he doing for that goal? Shocking leaves aguero totally unmarked in the D. I hate seeing this man at centre back, he ball watches far too often. Play him in midfield if he is going to play at all.

Get on your bike son - he's a top drawer defender. Stop scapegoating.

You know nothing about defending. Leaving your man totally unmarked is unacceptable for a top drawer defender. And the man he leaves is one of the best attackers in the game. This isn't a one off he is always doing it. Watch Luis closer in future and you'll see what I mean.

He adds too much to our team to sacrifice. What we lack is another more solid CB. Ivan and Cahill aren't good enough. Terry in his prime would have been perfect. Sadly we don't have that anymore.

It was shoddy defending by him for the City goal though.

I've said it before and I'll say it again Luiz is a midfielder! He should never play CB!

Maybe thats something I think is fair - but it leaves us very very weak at the back.

Luiz makes a good centre back but needs Cahill with him for cover, Terry and Ivan are too slow. Luiz will be a great player and legend in time cos he is a geezer.<ok>

We should be asking how Barry was able to maraude round our box unchallenged. Mikel was awful from the off and attitude looked poor.

Exactly the way I see it. He does some great things, but when a mistake is made, it's always his fault, as if he has to do the defending for everyone. Ivan is not a CB and Cahill sadly, is just not good enough. JT is half the player he was and should be used for lower and slower opponents. Any speed and he's finished. We do need a top top, young quick CD.
That said, Luiz would be a seriously good midfielder.

It might have something to do with Luiz trying to use his elbow to Aguero's face at the start of the 'challenge'. I would be surprised if there isn't retrospective punishment for both players.... how do the officials not see these things ? however,
as a neutral I really enjoyed this game - great attacking football by both teams ( nightmare for both managers .)

Agueros' face only comes up to Luiz' elbow , what's he supposed to do, drop to his knees and hit him in the chest ????

This year has been one of trials that can only make these players better. You can't invest all that time and money and start fresh next year. For example it is only Hazard's and Oscar's first year at Chelsea and in the prem. Rami and Loopy are still young. If you want instant success buy ready made players aged 27+ for 30,40,50 million plus in all areas.

Not writing him off by any means, just acknowledging the reality of his value to us at this time in his career.

More wisdom from the Polar Bear. You can add Marin to that list as well. Some players take more than a season to fit in. Drogba did, Thierry Henry did, Lampard did. All our players are talented, most of the young ones have huge improvement in them, especially with game time. It's all a matter of balance, and this year we haven't had enough of it.

Can't we sign Mats Hummels, considering Dortmund want De Bruyne
