I watched the game yesterday. I just wonder who thought that David Luiz was a £25m defender?
Now I know that he is obviously a good footballer, you can see that when he is in possession of the ball, but surely at the age of 23 he should know how to keep a defensive line and which side of a player he should be when marking.
I feel so sorry for JT. He spends most of his time mopping up for Luiz.

I also have question marks about him! I said after our first few games, he looked as if he couldn't do 90 minutes without getting red carded or conceding a penalty. He obviously is conforming to the pattern of play AVB wants i.e. playing a high line and we're getting caught out on the oppo's break outs.Personally he looks more like an attacking midfielder to me and will probably end up there when Branna and Cahill are settled back in!

I hope so. He's obviousy got a lot of ability and could do a job further upfield. If we want to challenge for the league again then we need to be solid at th back. That means Cahill and Brana at RB.

I'm more worried about Bosingwa, when are we going to get rid of him, i can't believe i'm about to say this but it's true - He is worse than Tal Ben Haim and i'd say arguably the worst RightBack we've ever had at our club, he does nothing, his positioning is poor, his crossing is inconsistent, his weak in the air, his weak anyway, his tacklings crap, his markings ****. He should be fourth choice behind Brana,Hutch and Ferreria. We don't need him so we should let him go in the summer along with Mikel,Malouda,Essien,Drogba and Kalou. If essien somehow manages to come back to how he use to be which i highly doubt as sadly them knee injuries are ****ers, especialy two of em and i can only see it going one way and that's him turning out like hargeaves and i'd rather we let him go so we can remember him for the good times instead of poor performances.

He was amazing when we first bought him for Carlo, couple of mistakes but nothing like this season.

Fair shout but if we want to challenge for the big honours then we need to be solid. Luiz and Bosingwa scare me to death at the back.

when Ivan is back, we'll be alright <ok>

Oh and credit where it's due, they didn't look brilliant yesterday, but a clean sheet nonetheless!

I dont think anyone thinks David Luiz is a 25m defender but we're getting Cahill for 7m so we got a bargain there :D

I think Luiz should be a CDM, but I reckon Romeu is irreplaceable now, unbelievable talent.

    This<ok>

Apparently Luiz is a very good full back as well having played there a lot for Benfica, so could be interesting to see what AVB does going forward...

Perhaps now Cahill is here, he will try him at RB.

Hope David Luiz doesn't become a victim of Cahills' arrival. Play him at right back, play him DFM, just play him.

Anyone at RB but Bosingwa please :steam:

Opta stats certainly say Gary Cahill is better than Luiz.

Fantastic quote from Gary neville......Luiz looks like he's being controlled by a ten year old in the stand with a playstation console, and he was spot on to be fair,I think he's a fukin liability anywhere across the back four.

Disagree with that mate tbf he's had some really good games alongside JT to guide him. He's getting better all the time.

If we were to sign nobody else

    Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry(Debatable) - Cole(Debatable)

    - - - - - - Romeu - - - - -Luiz - - - - -

    Ramires - - - - - - Mata - - - - - - - Sturridge

    - - - - - - - - - - - -Torres - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Alot of people are quick to have a go at Luiz yet we tend to forget he is playing the way he is told, the high line, and he has to lay alongside Bosingwa who has been dreadful and Cole and Terry who both hav had reckless seasons also, Terry less so. Cole has been terrible for half the year especially in the big games against Nani, Walcott and Ruiz
