So another manager bites the dust. Did well for Cardiff but couldn't quite get them promoted. Time to move on. Shouldn't be out of work too long. Wish I could shake off this twitch whenever I hear of a manager leaving.
The problem DJ had is he ran out of ideas, since being there, every season he improved the team but for the last couple of seasons whereby he peaked in the play-offs and not having enough to progress further.
Just been listening to Radio 5's summary of the season and Dave Jones' sacking came up in the discussion. I think he can could himself as unlucky with two trips to the play-offs and an FA Cup final. As John Motson said, he won't be out of work for long. What I didn't realise was that so many of the players at Cardiff were either on loan or have had their contracts expire. Furthermore, Cardiff are pretty skint and the suggestion was that whoever goes in will have a very difficult task indeed. Robbie Savage and Steve Claridge were saying that next season's Championship will be very tough.
I think they'll collapse after their massive promotion effort this season. They're goin to lose key players like Bothroyd, Burke, Bellamy, maybe more.
I can't see Cardiff being a threat next season. They have no money and they have to rebuild - relegation more likely than the playoffs.
