    I've got this type 2 diabetes,it's in the family and even my brother who is skinny as a rake has it.Diet is crucial apparently but luckily I like a lot of the hippy food that you should eat.It's obviously a lot harder for some than others.My mother had it and ignored all the advice and died at 88 of something non related.Luck of the draw I suppose.

    Cheers JWM! It's not quite what we hoped, but it's not all doom and gloom either!

    Apparently the diabetes is so out of control that the original plan of once a day non-insulin injections won't work, but she's very positive that twice a day insulin injections will bring it back under control!

    I have to inject myself for the first time in about an hour, then it's breakfast and evening meal every day for the rest of my life! Hopefully that will be quite a while!

    A big thank you to everyone who has wished me luck! It means a lot!

    <cheers>

    Glad to hear its not too bad. At least modern insulin injections aren't so bad.

    The wife had gestational diabetes and had to inject insulin.

    Hope you manage to get it under control soon, you'll feel loads better when it is.

    They reckon pregnancy is like a stress test on the body and it's an indicator that you could be heading in that direction in later life and that now would be a good time to make some lifestyle changes.

    After doing the food diary thing and checking the sugar content of carbs you have it's a real eye opener especially when you're looking at cooking sauces etc and that big glass of fruit juice you have to be healthy..... No wonder people are getting diabetes and getting fat the ****e that gets hidden in our food and drinks.

    I've got it to look forward to 2 generations of age onset type 2 diabetes on my dads side, both his parents got it and he's got it so odds are.....
