on news shopper site, millwall manager kenny jacket has confirmed that the player that martin allen has made a preliminary enquiry for is 33 year old defender darren ward and that nothing has come of it YET !
jacket is happy for him to stay at millwall, but will see what happens and if he plays games for them.

though ward is 33, i think it would be a good move for a couple of years to sign for us and quite like him as a defender...much better than lawrence who we brought from the wall.

Lawrence was from Crystal Palace, he was at Millwall before them. I would be happy with Ward as he is experienced and has played at higher levels.

Mark McCammon was with us too - but we had white players that were just as good so he had to go <laugh>

Please no, haven't we learnt our lesson about taking old, past it players from Millwall? Frampton was the worst player of the season last year and now we seem to be doing a seemingly identical transfer!

Darren Ward is still part of Millwalls plans, albeit as a sub, whereas they released Frampton. Some players in their thirties keep themselves very fit and others don't or can't. age affects different people different ways, and Darren Ward should be good for at least this season in L2
