I was holding my sides laughing today thinking of a Sunderland team looking something like this next year:

    Mignolet
    Brown O'Shea Bramble Bardsley
    Elmohamady Gibson Cattermole Malbranque
    Gyan N'Gog

However if I'm being honesy, I'd say the one quality player in that team would be Darren Gibson, he'll sit along side Cattermole and protect their defence pretty well, at the same time picking up the ball and knocking passes through to the front men. Just because he has turned out to be not quite good enough for Man U, doesn't mean he isn't good enough for a mid table club, and the fact that Fergie has had confidence in him must suggest he's not too bad of a player.
Other than that I think they're going to be a shambles next year, perhaps Gyan the exception.

Man United rarely let quality go, thats what we learned with Smith and Butt.

Gibson also has a decent shot anywhere inbetween 18 - 73 yards from goal.

They'll be gaining Gibson but losing Henderson. I'd say that Henderson could end up being better, so overall, it's a downgrade.

I'd have to bring up the likes of Ronaldo, Tevez, who left at the top of their game. In terms of young players who aren't brilliant but can do a good job, there are players like Frazer Campbell (3.5 mil) , Gerard Pique (6 mil) and Ryan Shawcross (1 mil) who have all gone on to become good players at other clubs.

Ronaldo went to his dream move and Man Utd only had Tevez on loan from his agent.

That's probably why he said 'rarely'.

Yeah but 80mil for Ronaldo isnt bad business, he can never pay that back to Real. Also they tried to keep Tevez. F Campbell's dont nowt, and Shawcross is doing OK but not brilliant. Pique yes but there's really a low ratio of good players let go.

It's JUNE!!!! Quinn has said the major deals will go through in July/August.

A realistic SAFC team for next year would look like this:

    Mignolet

    Bardsley Bramble R.Johnson O'Shea

    Larsson Cattermole Colback Sessegnon

    Gyan Pavlyuchenko

We still want N'Zogbia too although the Scousers could well be in for him too.

I can't physically understand why you can't seem to get it into your heads that Brown, O'Shea and Gibson are players to build a squad. We had lots of loans last year and Henderson has just left. Bruce wanted 8 players this summer and now that'll probs be near enough 10!! new players with Henderson going. We are rebuilding the whole squad and the Man Utd defenders have immense experience and Gibson is young and a decent footballer to have around the side.

If I were a mag i'd be more worried about your transfers. Typical newcastle going on about Gamiero, Gervinho etc etc when in truth they're more than likely wanting a club in Europe. Neil Taylor from Swansea City is your target to most likely replace Jose Enrique..........NEIL TAYLOR..........

Barton isn't getting a deal so he could well be off and so too with Nolan who has got a couple of years left on his deal but you would think if the right offer came in then he too would be off.

Taylor is not being signed as a replacement, if we were signing the players you were getting, I'd be very disappointed.

12 million 4 3 players plus N'Gog sounds like a huge chunk of your signings have been done, by the way we have no cover for Enrique so will need a left back regardless of whether Enrique stays or goes. Jog on.

Neil Taylor won't get in the team even if Jose leaves, because Ferguson is better and deserves a chance sooner or later. If it was announced that we were spending a considerable chunk of our budget on 2 players who have about 20 premier league games in the last 3 years between them, I would be extremely dissapointed. Gibson is the only one with potential.

Your Henderson money could be much better spent though, Man U wont let those players go if they still feel they have anything to offer, look at Smith and Butt for us. "Bags of experience" and coming from Man U seemed great, but it's because they dont want them anymore.

Also have you ever watched Taylor? Young LB and we'd never heard of Enrique either so I dont see a problem with him not being a "big name". Barton and Nolan will be here next season, no question.

I don't think he is a bad player, I think he will do well at any mid table club. I would wish him good luck, but if he goes to the Mackems then I hope he fails :)

Think both North East teams will have decent squads next season IMO

we have sold Henderson for 16m and looks like we are signing N'Gog for 4m and Brown, O'Shea and Gibson for a combined 12m fee. Them 4 or Henderson is a no brainer for me and it won't be the last bit of business we do, Brucie wants 8 or 9 in.

As for you guys, been impressed with that Cabaye fella and if you get Gervinho that will be a major coup, never seen that left back but can't go wrong for 1m.

Top 10 for both of us next season IMO

Hendo for £20M is good business, what with the £18M of the Bent fee we have in hand at the minute. I'll reserve judgment on the players we may or may not get from Utd, but I'd take Gibson for a fee now. Ditto N'gog who's only young anyway and has time to improve his game, although playing next to Torres meant he was never going to shine individually. We need 8 or 9 and this is early doors for us, like it is for you lot, so don't get too cocky too soon ;)
