The England international has been the subject of recent speculation and rumours linking him with a move to QPR, despite only joining Villa for £24million in the last winter window, but Bent insists any talk of leaving is wide of the mark. âI'm fully committed to the club. With January coming up there is always going to be rumours,â said the forward. âI moved last January and, with this whole thing (going shopping) over the weekend, these things quickly grow out of proportion. âBut I just want to reiterate, I'm fully committed to the football club.â Bent came under fire at the weekend after being photographed shopping while his side were losing to Liverpool at Villa Park. But the striker insists he was told to stay away from the match by medical staff, and claims his trip to the stores was a last-minute dash rather than a day's retail therapy. âI watched a large chunk of the game - up to about 70 minutes or something - so I haven't missed hardly anything,â he added. âI suddenly remembered I had to go out to the shops to a Christmas present so I nipped out. It was not like I'd been strolling around all day. âI popped out to pick up an item and someone has obviously got a camera phone and taken a picture. âIt looks worse than it is and I can assure people that was all that happened. There is no other agenda here and I haven't fallen out with the manager. Bent added: âThe medical people actually advised me to not go to the game because if I had been sat there for a long period I could get stiff. âThey told me to stay away from it and just come in at the beginning of the week to get treatment. âIt wasn't like I was meant to be at a football match and I've just said âno, I'm not goingâ and then just buggered off. All I've done is nipped into a shop and got something.â
Just can't see it. And, by the way....I've never thought he was that great and certainly not worth 24million!!
Northolt, is wrightyboy attempting to replace you with such articles mate? Give him a written warning!
if we had a choice of defoe or bent i would go for defoe, what am i saying we don't have a choice as defoe is coming, rubbish story regarding bent anyway.
Never worth £24m , and i can't see us having that sort of budget. Saying that would obviously love to have him but won't happen. I really don't see how a journo can do an article like this and be taken seriously. I did see in the paper that Defoe had a discussion with Redknapp about not playing, was'nt picked on Sunday either. This one could gather pace i reckon. maybe CB has called this one right. Also see that Livermore is touting himself at spurs, good young player we have been linked with before. A 6 month loan might work nicely for us, it did with walker .
Basis for this story - Bent seen out shopping whilst villa are playing = massive bust up up with manager + QPR are not scoring many goals and need a striker = QPR are trying to sign Darren Bent, what a complete load of bollocks in every department. No basis in fact what so ever. QPR will NEVER spend 24M on one player - not in my life time at least. THe same article says we are also looking at Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko, Bobby Zamora, Peter Odemwingie and Marouane Chamakh all of which are more likley although i still doubt we will pay much for any of them and we will end up with who ever is prepared to come on loan. I think the Daily Mirror is is having a 'who can right the most complete bollocks of a story' competition with the Daily Mail.
Utter Bollocks, He's way out of our price range, they only paid 24m 6 months ago ffs, stories like this really piss me off.
