Its all just unneccessary - and you dont have to be an "ethnic minority" to be offended by racist comments - John Terry is a prime example!

The issue is that a remark can only eb classed as racism if it is aimed at an "ethinic Minority" and hence it is difficult (or impossible - I'm nots sure) for a white person to be on the recieving end of a racist remark. That remark would fall under another low priority law.

My point is, calling Bale a chimp or inferring someone is a rapist (when not convicted) or making references to someone's haor complection "could" be as hurtful or offensive to that individual as mocking someone because of the skin colour! Because the FA has failed to deal with certain key individuals in the correct manner, I believe that the public perception of the severity has lowered and remarks have been to frequent and flippent. On the other side, because the black and white clear cut incidents (excuse the wording) havent been dealt with properly, some may argue that certain sections of the community are becoming over sensitive!

Either way, you say "sticks & stones", I say we all need to grow up and treat each other with equal respect, and that goes for all races, colours and creeds!

I've said the same thing several times before. If you are born with ginger hair, a big nose, end up growing to 7 feet tall, or only managing 5 feet, these are all things that you have no control over, but still lead to unfair judgements and insults.
    If instead of having a go at Ferdinand, John Terry had an outburst against;
    Ben Watson (****ing ginger ****)
Gareth Bale (****ing chimpy looking ****)
    Grant Holt (****ing fat ****)
    Peter Crouch (****ing lanky ****)
    Leon Britton (****ing tiny ****)

Would he have got in even slightly as much trouble?
I'm not saying that racism should be tolerated, or that any of the aforementioned insults should be banned, there are some pretty glaring inconsistencies. I think at the end of the day, the target should have a little think, has someone just had a bit of a rant that they'll regret later, or are they genuinely attacking you for looking a bit different?

Just got back, don't know if any news has reached you yet Potts, but here's a short write up from BBC.

Newcastle slid to a fourth successive league defeat for the first time since 2008 as Stoke came from behind with two late goals in four minutes.
After a forgettable first half Newcastle went ahead when Papiss Cisse converted a rebound after Demba Ba's shot was parried by Asmir Begovic.
Newcastle had chances for a second but Jon Walters equalised with a glancing header from Cameron Jerome's cross.
Jerome hit the winner after a knockdown from fellow substitute Kenwyne Jones.

    Stoke City
    01 Begovic
    02 Cameron []
    04 Huth

    16 Adam[] (Kightly - 67' )
    26 Etherington (Jerome - 68' )
    19 Walters
    25 Crouch (Jones - 40' )
