He is the striker I want in. I reckon we'd get him on a loan with a view to buy as Klopp clearly doesn't rate him. He'd fit nicely into Rafa's system and would clearly have a point to prove... especially with the world cup on the horizon. If we sold Mitro and lost Joselu and had just Gayle and Sturridge I'd be happy with that.
The only issue is the injury factor - he is a game away from being out the whole season, then what? Joselu again!
Good man management can change that, same with Ings. Defoe was a busted flush when he went to Canada. Big Sam got hold of him and booomm! England recall..
Think Klopp will either sell him to raise cash for incoming or keep him for squad depth. Probably wont be available for loan.
That was when Dempsey was at Spurs. I saw every game. DeFoe was solid that year. Just an aging, out of contract player following the money.
?????!!!!???????? You seriously want The Hospital Brothers up front???!!!! Gayle plays half a season if he's lucky as it is, and pairing him with a permanently crocked cripple????!!! This is basically the equivalent of going down to A&E, finding two car crash victims with every bone broken, then wheeling them out in their wheelchairs onto the pitch as out strike force. Well it'd still be better than Joselu I guess....
We've had half a year of the new head of scouting. For me this Steve Nickson needs to earn his fcking money. As you rightly say, we know exactly what we're going to get with Sturridge (or Ings) - a hefty doctors bill and very few goals. What we need is finding our version of a Richarlison, Gross, Kolasinac, Vlasic, Mooy, Choupo-Moting, Hughes, Zeegelaar. We've got little to no chance of securing a decent player from the top clubs and those moves rarely work out well anyway. I mean, we made moves in the Summer for low class PL experience in Joselu and Manquillo. That worked out well an'all.
Rumour her at Fulham is that you will be making a bid for Cairney in the Jan window. is that someone you want.. Our fans really rate him, and he wont be cheap. 15/20m
Wouldn't be disappointed to see him come in but wouldn't be jumping for joy either, as others have said he's injury prone and we'd be lucky to see him more than 10 times in the second half of the season. Surely there's got to be a young striker somewhere bossing it for his country but not getting games for his club who could come in and score some goals for us.
I was against this previously but if you offered me him now I'd snap your ****ing hand off. Beggars can't be choosers. I doubt we're his cup of tea mind. I think our aims may need to be a lot more realistic.
