I know this has been done a bit already, but I REALLY think we should try and sign Dani the more I think about it the more it makes sense and I will list the reason's I can think of below: 1) He is a play-maker, a bit like Wes but is more forward thinking. We need another play-maker in our team. 2) He has excellent ball control and is super composed when on the ball and under pressure, especially in the final 3rd. 3) He is very good at keeping posession in the final 3rd and this takes pressure of our full backs. 4) He has very good vision for people making runs in the box and also for switching play to the opposite wing with pin point accuracy if needed. 5) He scores goals and get's into the right positions to set up the next passage of play. 6) He tracks back and is determined. 7) His first touch is awesome and he is brilliant at bringing the ball down and controlling from lofted passes. Please Lambert, try and sign him and Lansbury! I know it was a poor Celtic side but they were awesome last night and the quality was there for all to see. Please, Please, Please! Oh, and we love him and he loves us!
Always remember some of the runs he made down the wing towards me in the N&P. I think with the benefit of the coaching staff at Colney, he could become a superb asset.
I have voted no, not for the fact that I dont want him because trust me i do but there are plenty of players and positions that I would prioritize above Pacheco...
Yeah agree, not number 1 target for me either. If the poll was should we sign it would be a yes, but number 1 has to be centre back,
I would have to know who the other transfer targets are to answer and since I don't know Lambert then from who has been discussed I would have to say no. A transfer target, yes, but not a priority.
I think the problem of conceding goals is also that we struggle to maintain possession higher up the field. The ball is given away to cheaply at times. Of course the centre backs get the blame but it's not all them.
We need to replace Whitbread. I also think Ward and Barnett will go so with them gone we will have 2 centre halves and Russell Martin, I will not feel confident starting two 22 year olds at centre half. Although I would have Martin in rather then Bennett. Personally I would go for Pacheco but like I said not priority.
I think it is highly unlikely that both Ward and Barnett will go or even one of them. That would leave us rather low on centrebacks and replacing them isn't always the best option. Lambert knows what he's doing.
We have to face the fact we are goin to concede and quite a lot but thats not down to a rubbish defence, its down to our tactics plus the fact we had such a make shift defence for the majority of it. I couldn't believe what I read the other day on here when they said they werent sure on ryan Bennett and if hes good enough! My main priority is a striker, then a rb, then a holding midfielder for competition and cover for fox.
Not doubting Lambert at all, but if he sees Martin as a centre half like I do. That will leave 5 centre halves. Take them two out of it then we are still only looking for one, I also Barnett is definitely probably on his way, not played second half of season at all, like the guy though don't get me wrong was great defender in Championship.
Why would you have martin in for Bennett? Can't you see how good the bloke is, and for such a young age!?
Not saying we have a rubbish defence, I think that's where we need to strengthen most though. We've had a great season imo no player in the team is rubbish, but we have to keep improving. Regarding Bennett, I think he has great potential but we need to give Ayala and Bennett strong competition not sure Ward and Barnett are strong competition for them. Plus I think if fit Ayala is number one centre half, Martin JUST gets second spot for me.
I think Martin reads the game fantastically, and has been an absolute brilliant at centre back this season at Emirates, when we played Arsenal at CR and also at Old Trafford. Bennett has massive talent no doubt but I think Martin pips it on consistency throughout season. To be fair holty boots I agree a forward and right back are also priority signings if we don't retain Naughton for next season maybe two rightbacks.
Quite often it is the system we play that causes the defence to be a little exposed. We have quite a few center backs. If we continue playing a diamond you need to keep possession higher up the field, which is what we failed to do last season. We have centre backs and I wouldn't be surprised if Lambert does not get anymore in the summer transfer window, Bennett replaced Whitbread Lambert already knew then that he would get rid of Whitbread. The problem is not the defence it is having the players to play the high line that we do. It's tricky when your left and right backs are pushing forward all the time, it leaves the centre backs exposed, especially to pace. BTW I have tweeted this poll to Dani.
He was a great player and I think he would be a great signing, can't see him getting in the Liverpool side so it would be a waste for him to stay there, great player for the club I think.
If we can pick him up for less than a million quid then yeah, I think we should have a pop on him, but in my opinion to even talk about making him the priority signing for this summer is completely bonkers. In my opinion that is. I'm not sure why some people are so convinced about him when we really have seen so very little of him, and all we have seen of him was when we were absolutely flying with confidence as high as I've known it for a long, long time so it must have been an absolute dream to slot into that squad at that time. I'm not saying he hasn't got the potential to be a very good player, because he does look like he's got a bit of class about him and has been said many times a cracking attitude - but I still just don't understand where this obsession with us having to sign him comes from, I really don't. On another point, how many fringe players who haven't been starring for their previous clubs has Lambert signed for us? I can only really think of Barnett, and that was a different time and he was stepping down after having proved himself in the division we were in. If Pacheco have scored at least half a dozen goals or played 25+ games in a reasonably successful campaign in his homeland where his game should be better suited last year I'd be really interested. But he didn't, he played only eleven games for a team that just avoided relegation and didn't score once. Hardly signs that he would hit the ground running as so many people seem to think he would, he's nowhere the player Howson is playing in a similar position and I also still think Wes offers us more. If we are looking to sign another of that type of player as a priority then for me it would be Snodgrass without question, and even if we can't get him I personally think we should be setting the bar a bit higher than Dani - as lovely, friendly, loyal, funny a bloke he is and regardless how many nice things he says about us on Twitter
Currently 14/20 people think he should be our number one prioirty signing as we head into our second season in the Premier League
