Won't go, didn't want to go to Leeds or wolves last year, wanted to be here. Burnley will be in same league as us next season
3m is an insult. If he's sold and it's less than 7m it will be clear who's running the club. Young English Technically sound Decent time left on his contract 7m
Any aspirations we currently have to gain promotion, and then for more success in the next 2 or 3 years, will not include selling our better players at this stage in that process.
Pleased he’s already signed a new long term contract, and by his own words he wants to stay here and play for Sunderland even higher up the league’s. Hope we keep him. LATEST NEWS Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce that Dan Neil has signed a new long-term contract at the Stadium of Light. The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a new four-year deal, following in the footsteps of fellow academy graduate Elliot Embleton by committing his future to SAFC until summer 2025. Neil has enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2021-22 season, featuring 17 times in all competitions for his boyhood club. Born in South Shields, he scored his first professional goal in the Lads’ 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley in September, with an unstoppable strike screaming into the top corner in front of the Roker End. The midfielder, who has also registered five assists since the start of the campaign, scored an equally spectacular second earlier this month when captaining Lee Johnson’s side against Lincoln City. Neil made his senior debut in a 2018 Papa John’s Trophy tie against Morecambe and he featured six times during the competition last season, as the club secured its first win at Wembley Stadium since 1973. After a breakthrough 12 months on Wearside, Neil believes this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the club’s esteemed history. He said: “Everyone knows that I love this football club and I love playing for it. It’s a dream come true to be playing in the first team and I’m loving every minute of it, but I want more and I want to be playing in the higher divisions for Sunderland. I want to be part of getting this club back to where it belongs and there’s nowhere I would rather be, so I’m delighted to have extended my contract.” Lee Johnson added: I’m really pleased for Dan and for the football club. We are excited and encouraged by his progression over the past year and we are enjoying having an overview of his hard work, but there is so much more to come from him and that is incredibly exciting because he is already a very good player. We are delighted to have made this type of commitment to a player who loves playing for Sunderland, is hungry for success and continuously proves his desire to improve through strong application.”
Fans will be absolutely fuming if we sell him on the cheap, or even at all when the lad really wants to stay here. Plus Lookman went to Everton from Charlton for £11m a few years ago. Totally different player but shows just because we are in League One it doesn’t mean clubs can take the piss.
Not a chance for 3m. Start at double figures if they are serious about buying him. It would be a horrible career decision to play for Burnley as a midfielder with his ability.
He’s ****ing quality, if we let him go at this stage of the season especially to a club we’re likely to be playing next season then I’m not sure I could support the new regime anymore.
I hope not, but the owners have stated their intention to make Sunderland self financing by producing players to sell on, so we better get used to it. Selling your better players is not the way to gain promotion. Any players bought with the money will need time to adapt to our style and level of fitness. I can’t remember any who have gone straight into the team under LJ - but then, my memory ain’t good.
I don't believe a word that Nixon comes out with. He makes hundreds of transfer 'scoops' and hardly any ever come off. And what the **** is that anyway? Burnley are considering putting a bid in... How spurious can you get? So they've not even decided whether they will or not? Utter bollocks I reckon.
Looking through Nixon's Sunderlant claims. The first ones I can find on Google are as follows: SAFC in for Jebbison (didn't happen) Jimmy Dunne going to Bolton (went to QPR) Eric Lihaj Jay Spearing.... The list goes on
Yeah I tend to ignore any rumours where a club are “considering” putting a bid in for a player. Pretty sure that just means the tabloids have been using the random team & player transfer generator.
I can't see that happening at all. If it did, we might as well go back to signing League One players, and wait until we strike it lucky and go up. That said, all players have a value, but £3m in todays terms is comically low, though after the way we have sold players at the first bid for a few years now, you can't blame them for trying, if indeed they even have. And if he DID leave, then he should be looking at a club other than Burnley. For all the excellent work Dyche and the previous owners have done, there are new people owning it now, and I'm not convinced about them at all. Pretty sure they have leveraged the club in a way that rarely ends well. Their good times might be approaching their end.
