at least we know and his parent club now know that he wants to stay, so he must be happy with the wages he is being offered and that must be in our favour.
Yes but if they are going to cash in, so will he I think, if he gets offered double his wages with regular first team football I don't think he will stay.
He wasnt quite so great at his previous teams and as per others who have come here the swans have helped them look really good partly because of the way our team operates on the pitch so beware being over rated if they go to other teams that dont play our way ! . With that in mind make Offenhiem ( spelling ?) an offer to take it or leave it also his wages so we dont waste pre season on iffs and buts ! Do not break the bank for anyone !! there are always others out there that can do a good job as previous experience shows even if only with loan players . It would be fantastic to keep him here but not the end of the swans if we dont.
If his current form stays as it is he might outprice himself as far as we are concerned, so i agree with dai get in quick.I know money is a big factor in a relatively short career but he does really like living here and hopefully will be a factor as well..And he's a regular in The grape and olive
he has more or less told swansea to sort things out with hoffenheim and he is ours, it is now up to swansea to make them a realistic offer, i would go as far to say that this player could well be the difference between a mid table finish or a bottom five finish, he is important because he brings goals , and if i was our huw i would extend his wallet a little further with this player, last season with borini he had already signed a pre contract agreement before joining us on loan, sigurdsson is very keen to join the rodgers revolution and to be honest with you if its possible to sign him up for a permanent switch we should not miss the boat on this one because if we do, we may well regret it the end of next season, he is only 22 and you can never tell how they will turn out in the future, but i think we could make a good profit on gylfi later on down the line if he were to leave.
Agree Mabon. With the way he is playing at his age, his value will only rise as he gets better and better. We cannot let him go.
You still know how to get me excited Mabsy. He did sound awfully happy at the Swans on MOTD the other night...
âEvery time he scores heâs adding to his value. I might have to drop him!â - Rodgers..............
Every time he scores he’s adding to his value. I might have to drop him!” - Rodgers.............. AHHHH thats why we play danny as our main striker......i get it now...
If he goes elsewhere for money, then he's not what we are after. Rodgers (and Lambert for that matter) have stated in the past that he wants hungry players who, first and foremost, play for the love of football. Taylor said in the press recently that he doesn't think anyone will leave in the summer as they realise what a special place this is to play football, and that they can really do something special here. Now I'm not naive enough to believe that nobody will leave this summer. And I'm not naive to suggest that if Siggy goes elsewhere it's just because of the money. However, if we can't match or afford his wages and it's a major factor when deciding where he goes next, we'll just have to look elsewhere... Personally, I think he's on his way here next month!
I hope I'm right as well! He's beyond any midfield player that we've seen here in the past in my opinion! Only players we've had that could be classed as comparable to him were Jordi Gomez and Ferrie Bodde, and we never saw either play at the highest level for us. Gylfi seems to be the best of both of those players rolled into one - the slightness, ball control, and shot finesse of Gomez; and the tenacity, speed of thought, and shot power/accuracy of Bodde. A truly fantastic player. My workmate is a Reading fan and he told me as soon as we signed him on loan that we'd easily stay up just from that signing. He put him straight into his fantasy dream team (before his debut for us), and he has bagged an absolute shed full of points as a result! There are more players out there like him, but he is now tried and tested with us. If we get him, we already know that we're acquiring a fantastic player that can play our system easily. It's worth paying £2million more for Siggy than any other like-for-like player just because of that.
Im sure the board are working on it as they must have learnt their lesson after missing out on Borini! £5-6 million with season goals, appearance and staying up add ons and a 20% profit clause should do it
One thing that really doesn't make sense to me is why isn't Sig playing regularly at Hoffenheim ... I mean are they so good they don;t need him ? .. It just doesn't add up , there must be bad history with him & them or something or the club is just daft .
Because they like having more managers than US!! The manager who bought him left in Jan 2011, the next manager who was only there until the end of the season liked him and he player - becoming fans player of the season according to wikipedia - then a new manager came in and didnt play him after he came back from a slight injury, Siggy then came to us, Hoffenhiem went really rubbish, fired that manager and now they have a new guy in charge - Markus Babbel (formerly of Liverpool) as of Feb. Hopefully he will see it is fruitless having a player that wants to play somewhere else so will happily see him sold
Sig got overlooked ... BIG TIME !!! . " The Swansea Sniper " gave Robinson all he could handle last game once he got the first few attempts out of his system Lol !! . Seriously though , at the risk of upsetting the " Squad Wage Table " , Sig is special & I'm not one to break the bank .... but investment is investment ! I do think he will settle at Man U or Arsenal in the summer though , because they'll make him a wage offer he could'nt refuse . Stay tuned !
its probably because he is not as effective for them with the style of football they play and our brand of football suits him better.....thats my guess...
Newcastle is the latest to show an interest in Sig & 8,000,000 seems to be the figure Hoffenheim are signaling .... I'm afraid Sig's got 4 more games with us , then it's off to bigger & better things elsewhere I'm afraid . There's not a hope in hell we will pay that much for him & that's without the wage package bonanza I'm sure Sig will need .
He's not worth £8m, so if that is the amount being bandied around think we should forget it and go for someone else.
Not worth 8mil? 7 goals since January would beg to differ! I'd say considering the fees some players go far (Henderson, Downing, Walcott, Balotelli etc) it's an absolute bargain!
