I see that the Echo has articles backed up by videos of Rodriguez and Adkins interviews. Does this mean they have their foot back in the door at SMS? If so, has NC forgiven them or is it a requirement of the PL.

Anyone have any idea why Adam Blackmore is currently banned from doing the manager/player interviews? He tweeted the other day that they are trying to sort it out..

I hope they have made it up with the Echo ... very petty if you ask me

The club and the Echo used to be such a good and succesful partnership and I would like it to go back that way

Totally agree. Whilst its not a case that one needs the other to survive, its good that the local press supports its team and provided they don't start making stuff up and giving in to the rumour mill, there's is no reason why Saints can't use the Echo to its own advantage. Obviously, good news for the Echo and whilst I might be in a minority theses days, I like reading stuff in a newspaper rather than on-line.

I suspect that local papers get their accreditation direct from the Premier League, not from individual clubs. That's how the Echo (probably via the bigger media company that owns them) are now attending Saints press conferences.

As for Blackmore, I'd hazard a guess that with Saints doing more of their own interviews in-house for Saints player etc, he lost his contract to do that on the side of his Radio Solent job. His tone in his tweets have changed towards Saints and he was inferring that Cortese sticks his nose in too much. Clearly the club read that and hence he's had a smack on the wrist.

I think Blackmore was banned for that blog he wrote implying that he thinks the 4-3-3 is being forced upon Adkins.

Think you have to go back further than 15 years for that to be true! Apart from the brief period when Michael Wilde was trying to carry favour via the Echo by giving them exclusives.

Bob Brunskell was the best reporter back in the day and even he fell out with Saints years before Lowe took over.

15-20 years ago, Saints needed the local paper to promote ticket sales etc. Now, they don't need them one bit.

Sums it up. These day's local papers aren't the medium they used to be. Social media is where it's at.
