I think Curtis Davies has surprised a few, I didn't expect him to be this good - he's amazing. Brave, gets a head a boot or something on the ball. Seems quick, reads the game really well. A monumental signing from Bruce.
Looking at how bad Birmingham were last season, there's simply no evidence to suggest that signing him would be good for our PL ambitions.
Cheers OLM, got it all sorted now. Stuff's been recovered too, turns out the idiots who took it all, got caught doing the same a couple of doors away and all our stuff was back at their homes!
In a nutshell, he's absolutely ****ing brilliant and - this is no criticism of our former player - miles better than Hobbs. I'd say he's actually ahead of the headline grabbing Huddlestone as PotY so far with the also perhaps underrated McGregor coming in 3rd. The latter is so calm and cool it's like he's keeping goal on his *** break but he's been almost flawless since he punched Torres in the head. I think he's so relaxed we just kind of accept how ace he is without really appreciating it. Early days but I might go as far as saying he could become our best keeper ever.... So yes - Bruce really did make some brilliant summer signings. Steve Walsh who?
I come out of that quite well, on the money as normal. Tickles comes out of it looking like.......erm......Tickles.
Curtis Davies is probably the best bit of business SB did, he has just been amazing. It's a pity Prossy was not in his mould, as he would then be an outstanding centre forward, and I think that is what SB is saying Prossy lacks Curtis Davies desire.
Yep I was completely wrong as it turned out. I haven't read the thread back but I remember being unimpressed. I also remember arguing with a Birmingham fan about who was better between Chester and Davies. Turns out it doesn't matter! You have to wonder how Birmingham have been so **** though.
It's a financial mess. Birmingham have sold player after player in recent years (Foster, Dann, Johnson, Gardner, Mutch) - and after last season they lost Butland and Davies (who had both been saving them at the back), Redmond (for way too little) and Marlon. And Morrison went back to WHU after his loan and is prospering. They're awful now without that lot. You can't just keep selling and selling and hope to make progress or even stand still.
I always thought Davies would prove a solid signing, and I've been thoroughly impressed by him so far. I still don't agree with the decision to sell Hobbs, however Davies' recent form is making me slightly more accepting of Bruce's decision. Although ideally it would have been great if we had kept both, especially given that Chester has picked up an injury so early into the season.
