"Chris Hughton plans to raid Birmingham for star defender Curtis Davies once he is unveiled as Norwich boss. Hughton is set to be named the Canariesâ new manager on Thursday, to succeed new Aston Villa gaffer Paul Lambert. Hughton is taking his Blues assistants Colin Calderwood, Paul Trollope and the Championship club's chief scout Ewan Chester with him. Cash-strapped Birmingham have let highly-rated Hughton to speak to Norwich, and are set to receive £2million in compensation. And Hughton has already identified £4m-rated centre-back Davies to follow him to Carrow Road. Norwich need a new stopper after releasing Zak Whitbread on a Bosman. Davies, 27, is coming off a superb season, making the Championship PFA team of the season as Blues came fourth in the second tier. If he makes the Championship team of the year, that is enough to convince me. What do the rest of you think? (and yes, I do know this is the Mirror ) £4m fair?
he cost villa £10m not so long ago! i think we'd get him for less than the £4m quoted to be honest - £2.5m
4m its a lot for 1 player but if we sell holt we could buy him without touching the transfer budget so we still have all the budget left for more players i think if holt wants to go then let him and get money for him before hes not worth nothing
Birmingham are in a strange position because they are broke so need to sell, but can't buy so need to hold on to as many players as possible.
I would go on the Championship team of the year. Escpecially given how many people dissented to the Premier League one as well as the short list for player of the year. Not saying he is bad but something to consider.
