Cheers dave, there were other websites aswell, just that I'm on the blower so cant copy web addresses. Been named in team of the year so he can't be too bad!?
yet another article which says 'lambert looks to add proven premiership quality' to his squad curtis davies, as far as i'm concerned, is a failed premier league centre half. always had potential but what makes him more proven than anyone else if all he's proven is he isn't really up to it? is it cos he once cost £10m? i really don't get it at all!
An alternative view is that he had a number of injuries, numerous folk saw his potential (callled up to the England squad; maybe not the most reliable indicator of quality). Given captaincy roles, whihc might indicate leadership abilities, perfect to bring on the two young CBs next season. Could be another player with hunger and desire to prove himself at the right club, under the right management?
as i say longsight, undoubted potential but at 27 he is still waiting to fulfil it and if leicester fans are concerned about his ego, that is the biggest worry of all. we don't want any egos disrupting the dressing room. must admit i liked davies when he first burst onto the scene - he had the build and pace to be a top defender - but can you honestly say he'd improve our centre defence of ayala, whitbread or bennett? i think he's better than ward so he could improve our squad, but not the first team in my opinion.
He defo has the quality. He's exceptionally good. But his ego and lack of effort was damaging to our season last year.
I'm not arguing for him, just playing devils advocate. Ego's can be harnessed with the right management approach, Age 27 waiting for his potential to be fulfilled: there are no players like that in our club????????????????????????????????????????????
i'm not complaining if we sign him, just concerned that a leicester fan thinks he lacks effort and has a large ego! he sounds like he's playing well but lack of effort is a worry. agree egos can be harnessed and 27 is a very good age for a defender - he should be coming towards his peak now so if we do go for him i can see lambert getting the best out of him. there are concerns with most signings to be fair! we can't exactly sign the cream of the crop. nice to see more english players targeted too - surely one of them will eventually get called up
We had him on loan for a little while last year. Class defender and was great but once he had "proven" himself he stopped giving 100% incase he got injured or something. There was one moment where they was a 50 50 tackle and he completely pulled out and the opposition player just smashed the ball into the net. Very good player though. We have been linked with Ritchie De Laet today for 1.2M. What are you thoughts on him and why did his season long loan end early? Cheers
hi proud fox, thats interesting about davies. maybe his commitment levels would be higher if he were contracted to the club? thanks for the feedback anyway - i think from reading foxes fans comments he might be worth a punt. there's always a risk with every transfer but much would depend on price i suppose! de laet started the season for us at centre back due to injuries. he actually played very well, scoring a goal too, but he made three mistakes in each of his first three games, all of which cost us goals! to be fair, we were still adjusting to the league at that time but they were quite costly. he has good pace and played well at full back a couple of times later on - i think his best position would be right back but he is certainly versatile, a good squad player. his loan ended because he was injured and even once he recovered he wasn't getting a look in, hence fergie decided enough was enough and called him back. difficult to say what his worth is because we've not seen enough of him to be honest! i'd say if you get him for £750k thats about right
