Ameobi = Inconsistent injury prone yet decent enough to be a regular starter? Great experience, can lead the line well, good hold-u play, creates chances but he clearly isn't a ''natural'' finisher & isn't blessed with great skill or pace.
Best = OK, looked average in the Championship, good enough to be a regular though? Good work-rate, can win headers, two good feet, good pace and decent mobility, although lacks that ''deadly'' finishing ability and has nothing compared to Carroll & Shola in the heading department, I'll give him a chance though, I've liked what I've seen of him.
Lover = Experienced striker with good movement, clever, good pace, excellent work-rate & effort, always usually gives 110%, although isn't a great finisher(maybe with a run of games he could find his touch), seems to be a BIT ''past it'', hasn't got great strength & IMO seems better suited to a slower style of play(La Liga/Seria A would do him good). Good enough to be a regular?

Ranger = Looks decent enough already, very good potential, good pace, strong, powerful, direct, good hold-up play, can create loads of chances, has looked a constant threat when coming on as a sub, seems to be a handful for most defences & already shown signs of POTENTIALLY being better than Carroll.. he's only 19 though.. isn't the most skillful, hasn't got a very good attitude by the looks of it, lacks a finishing touch, still needs to improve aspects of his game to be a regular quality EPL striker & I for one hope he is better than Andy Carroll & doesn't turn out to be another gifted youngster with great potential yet kills it off.. *cough* Ameobi *cough*

So is Ranger ready for the step up? or does he need a loan move to the SPL or Championship?

Airey = Don't know, looks like a promising youngster though!

    Play Ranger! <cheers>

We did that with Carroll when he got 4 goals in 3 months in the CCC, he wasnt half the player he is now and we got our reward in terms of quality and eventually, in terms of 35 million pounds. Ranger CAN be better than Carroll, give him a real chance, I'm sick of the 20-30 minute cameos (incidentally he still contributes more than the rest of them in these brief sub apps).

Ameobi and Best until Ben Arfa is back, then Shola up with Ben Arfa in a free role behind.

Ranger needs to work on his skills, at the moment Shola has to step up, at least with Nolan there is a real contribution as well, Best and Lovers also have to step and prove critics wrong, I am pretty sure that Pardew will be emphasising this along with the team spirit that has been a key part of the performances.
