I have seen a thread on another site. Where Birmingham city fans have stated that they were Happy to win the Carling/League cup and get relegated. I find this rather a strange thought. But thats what they think.

    So i ask this question to both sets of fans. With Cardiff in the semi final of the same cup and a recent trip to Wembley in the FA cup. The question is Premier league or winning a cup final. Simple which would you take.

    For me i wouldnt care if we got knocked out in our first appearance in every cup if we can retain our Premier league status. But want to know what everyone else thinks.

    As we both know recently, a day out at Wembley is great but the league is the bread and butter of any club so for me, promotion over winning a cup final any day <ok>

    I am in two minds on this one. It’s not that often these days that a club from outside the super powers that be get a chance to win something. So would I be happy in say Bolton’s place now after years in the prem they find themselves on the verge with NOTHING to show for it. Or say Birmingham's place something that might not happen again in my life time a trophy winning something yet still in with a fair crack at top flight football.

    I think I would prefer to win something as much as I would love to see top flight football even someday Champions league (Fingers crossed) football. Cup runs are hard to come by on a regular basis.

    Ahh for me its prem league all day long... As unlikely as it is a league 2 club 'could' win the F.A cup but then still have to watch the same old dross week in week out. In the prem you get to see some of the best players in the world in your own backyard... Then watching us compete with the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle away and Spurs (not to even mention if you take a scalp!), nothing beats that feeling, not even a cup win!

    There is nothing like the buzz of a cup final for fans but for the club it has to be promotion purely from a financial point of view.

    We've been to 3 FA Cup finals and are the only team to take the FA Cup from England, so it would be nice to get another 1st and be the only team to take the League Cup out of England.

    But... the fist priority must be to get back to and play in the highest division.

    Would prefer the promotion to the premier league than a the cup, but don't want to see us out of the cup either. Hate it when we lose even if we were up against Barcelona tomorrow I'd still want the win even if, in my head, it'd be unlikely.

    Always want to win everything, but if it comes down to it, the league is far more important than the cups.

    I think the question of priorities is directly proportionate to a club's position. For Cardiff this season, I don't think too many of us were expecting to be competing for a place in the top six again let alone the top two. Furthermore I think we were ready to accept another season of rebuilding and, on that basis you could argue that the cup run has not prejudiced our league expectations. In a nutshell, at the moment the question is irrelevant. However, in 2008 I really believe our run to the FA cup final took away our focus from promotion. Just an opinion of course.

    Cup ? ... What cup !! Premier League money for me , for as long as we can get it & save a healthy portion of it is all that matters to me these days . Still can't believe were here & playing well to boot . Especially happy for the guys that have been with us since league 1 & the first season of the Championship & playing a major role so far ,

    Now see my thinking is sure it must be nice to be in the prem and see the top player’s week in week out but football is all about your team being the best and winning things in it??

    Look at Arsenal yes they get champions league football every year but surely they want to win the league again or some cup competition. Otherwise what’s the point every year and how will they continue to attract the best players if they don’t win things. Hence why some players have started moving on or not wanting to join in the club anymore the players know other clubs offer a better chance of trophies.

    Yes I want to get promoted and yes I want to win the cup. If we won the league cup this year and missed out on promotion I would be delighted to be the League cup champions and think we can go again in a decent league. Win both I would be over the moon.

    Well we did win a prize when we won the play off final moving to the premier league and a huge financial reward for the club i love. so I have had my day out at wembley and winning.. A cup win would be a fab thing don't get me wrong, but don't think it will top the day we got promoted... so for me had our cake an ate it...

    Staying up is much more important for me than winning a cup this season. If we could continue to build over the next few seasons, then who knows what we would want to be competing for?? Cups and maybe a place in Europe..

    <ok>
